Among the announcement of the new Pixel lineup, Google also introduced new AI tools to its ever-growing collection.

One of the new AI features is Magic Cue. Found across the entire Pixel 10 lineup, Magic Cue is promised to “connect the dots” so you don’t need to switch between apps in order to find information.

But how does Magic Cue work and what does it actually do? Is the AI-powered feature safe to use?

We explain everything there is to know about Magic Cue below. To learn more about Google’s recent announcements, make sure you visit our Google Pixel 10 vs 10 Pro, Pixel 10 vs Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 Pro Fold vs Pixel 9 Pro Fold guides too.

What is Magic Cue?

Magic Cue is an AI tool that’s found across the latest Pixel 10 smartphone series. Essentially, Magic Cue uses Gemini to understand what you’re trying to do on your Pixel handset, and shows you relevant answers from your apps.

For example, if someone messages you asking when your flight should land tonight, Magic Cue will see and understand the question and find the answer from your booking confirmation email. From here, you’ll then see the answer right above your keyboard, ready to be sent by you, without you needing to look in your calendar or search your email yourself.

At the annual Made By Google event, Google showed another example of someone asking where dinner reservation was. Not only can Magic Cue check your emails and provide the information on your behalf, but in the instance where your friend asks “can you change it to a later time”, Magic Cue will bring up the restaurant’s contact details for you to make the adjustment.

Plus, although Magic Cue shows you the information, it won’t send the message automatically. Instead, you need to tap the suggestion to send it. I think this is a nice touch in the instance that you want to add any extra niceties to your message, rather than just send a blunt “7pm” reply.

How does Magic Cue work?

Google explains that Magic Cue makes connections between information from across your apps, emails, screenshots, notes and more to show you relevant information without you needing to hunt for it yourself.

In fact, Google gives another example that if someone asks for photos from a specific event, say a holiday from last year or just a nice photo of the two of you, Magic Cue will understand the details, including the people involved, location and event date. Then, when you open the Photos app, you’ll see the relevant images are already selected and ready to be sent.

Magic Cue is designed to be secure too, as all processing runs on-device. This means all your information remains private. Plus, you can also choose to pause Magic Cue or even turn it off completely if you’d prefer.

Which Pixel devices support Magic Cue?

Magic Cue is available across the entire Pixel 10 series, from the entry-level Pixel 10 up to the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. This is because the Pixel 10 series runs on both the latest Tensor G5 chip and the newest version of Gemini Nano.
