China’s authorities are expected to issue satellite internet licenses in the near future, marking a crucial step toward commercial operations. Between July 27 and Aug. 17, China Satellite Network Group conducted five rounds of low-Earth orbit satellite launches, bringing the group’s total number of satellites in orbit to 72. However, due to the current limited number of satellites and the need for further improvements to user terminals, it may take another two to three years to achieve Starlink-level global coverage. For now, domestic services mainly rely on high-throughput satellites such as APSTAR-6D and Zhongxing-26 to support industry-specific applications, while widespread adoption by ordinary consumers will take more time.
