According to a De-Cix survey commissioned to Netquest and made between 1,000 people between 18 and 65 years in Spain, 60% of Spaniards have used some tool or service based on AIeither through virtual assistants and recommendations on digital platforms, or smart navigation systems. In addition, 78% consider that AI has made their life easier for different reasons: time savings, faster information or greater efficiency in performing daily tasks.

Despite this, Only 22% trust AI decision making by itself in critical situations. Most believe that this technology does not have empathy, intuition or adaptation and that must always be supervised by humans. Especially, when there are lives or human rights at stake.

One of the sectors in which the AI is expected most is in health. The Spaniards highlight their diagnostic improvement capacity (34%), acceleration of medical research (41%) and real -time health monitoring (42%). But 56% are not comfortable with their direct use in diagnoses or treatments. This underlines the distrust that arises when IA replaces the criteria of humans.

With respect to autonomous vehicles, only 23% have a positive opinion, and 49% doubt their safety. Among the main fears of respondents are technical failures (58%), cyber attacks (40%) and uncertainty about responsibility in case they are involved in an accident (36%).

The results of the survey show that there is more and more balance between the growing use of tools based on AI and the demand of the company that its development and application are responsible. The distrust that persists in different areas, such as health or transport, indicate that for Spanish society, technology must complement, and never replace, the judgment of humans in essential decisions.

In addition, 77% of respondents are concerned about the ethical implications of AI. Especially, in relation to privacy, transparency and the possibility of biases or discrimination. And two out of three believe that the current Internet infrastructure in Spain is not enough to support the growth of AI. Above all, in high demand contexts.

This perception underlines the need to have a solid and safe digital infrastructure, with the least possible latencythat allows the ethical and reliable deployment of AI in all sectors. From De-Cix they point out that «cOn the rapid advance of AI and its growing integration into science, technology, business and daily life of people, it is essential that pioneers, developers and facilitators of AI consider and understand public perception about this technology. This survey offers valuable information about the attitudes of Spaniards towards AI and about the need for responsible use of it. To fully take«.
