SKY customers are being warned that a shake-up to their telly line-up lands today – with four much-loved channels being renamed or replaced.

The changes roll out across the UK and Ireland, with some channels reverting to old names while others take on brand new titles.

Sky viewers can still bag bonus telly for free using hidden apps – even as channels get shuffled

From today (August 26), Sky KungFuPandaHD (Satellite 305 – Sky Glass/Stream 305) switches back to Sky Animation HD.

Meanwhile, Sky Fast (Satellite 302 – Sky Glass/Stream 302) is rebranded as Sky 80s HD – though this is only temporary.

Also changing today is Sky Family (Satellite 306/850 – Sky Glass/Stream 306), which has been renamed BacktoSchool and BacktoSchoolHD.

And there’s more to come later this week.

From Friday, August 29, Sky Cinema Action (Satellite 307/851 – Sky Glass/Stream 307) will be transformed into Sky LOTR and Sky LOTR HD.

The Lord Of The Rings takeover will be dedicated to the fantasy movie franchise, with fans able to enjoy the full trilogy and spin-offs.

It marks the latest in a string of reshuffles as Sky tweaks its line-up for film and TV fans.

Hidden apps reveal free telly

These changes follow our report that Sky viewers can still unlock fresh telly on the cheap – without waiting for official new channels.

Three apps hidden inside Sky’s menus can give you a bonus haul of free content.

You’ll find them inside the Apps & Inputs folder on your Home Screen.

If they’re not there straight away, you might need to scroll right to the end to spot them.

The first is Xumo Play, which has more than 75 live channels.

Yes, you’ll need to sit through adverts – but that’s nothing new for most Sky users.

Xumo Play packed with channels

Channels include Xumo Movies, Sky Sports Classics, Dateline 24/7 and even a dedicated Mythbusters stream.

It also carries on-demand TV shows and films too, so there’s always something to flick through.

The second app to check out is U, which is loaded with on-demand shows across drama, comedy and documentaries.

The official description says: “Whether you love documentaries, crave comedy or want to lose yourself in a great drama – whatever you want to watch, whenever you want to watch it.”

‘U’ app full of favourites

Viewers can binge classics including The Office, Would I Lie To You?, I’m Alan Partridge, Doctor Foster, MasterChef Australia, Prison Break, and The Bill.

It means there’s no shortage of telly to enjoy – even as Sky’s main channels are shuffled about.
