The Taycan Is An EV With the Soul Of A Classic Porsche
Unfortunately, most sporting electric vehicles so far have been a little underwhelming. While they get the acceleration right, they far to often forget about driver engagement. The Porsche Taycan, however, manages to deliver a truly enjoyable driving experience while also featuring the asburd spec sheet you’d expect from an EV.
Changes For 2026
Last year, Porsche gave the Taycan a mild refresh, meaning changes were made to things like the front bumper, headlamps, fenders, and taillights. Adjustments were also made to the charging system, as well as the electric sports sedan getting bigger batteries. Curb weight was also reduced.
Despite all these changes to the 2025 model year, Porsche has still done quite a lot to the 2026 model. The infotainment system was overhauled, with it now being quicker and more responsive than before. Third party software can also now be downloaded. All sounds systems were imbued with Dolby Atmos surround sound as well. Finally, a Black Edition model was added to the lineup.

There is a plethora of trims to choose from with the Taycan, with a massive price difference between the most affordable model and the most expensive one. While there are other sporting EV sedans out there, none truly compete with the Taycan. Alongside the sedan, the German brand also offers the Taycan as a station wagon, dubbing it the Cross Turismo.
The insanely high performance offered in the Turbo models is certainly enticing, but the price tag is eye-watering. We think that most buyers will be more than satisfied with the all-wheel drive 4S. Rather than opting for a higher trim, we’d save that extra money to personalize your Taycan to your tastes, with Porsche charging extra for just about everything.
Warranties and Maintenance
- Limited Warranty: Four Years or 50,000 Miles
- Powertrain Warranty: Eight Years or 100,000 Miles
- Complimentary Maintenance: None
The Taycan offers pretty competitive coverage for the Taycan. Both the bumper-to-bumper coverage and the powertrain warranty are on the high side of average. The only better offer out there is that Tesla covers powertrains for eight years with unlimited mileage.
Porsche’s Electric Sedan Offers Sports Car Driving Dynamics
As mentioned above, it’s pretty rare for an electric car to deliver driving dynamics that are truly comparable to ICE sports cars. The badge on the front of the Taycan should be enough to convince you that it is not like other EVs though. Using cutting-edge technology, Porsche has managed to put out a one-of-a-kind car that stays true to their heritage.

The trim levels of the Taycan mostly refer to the performance that they put out, with each model getting more and more absurd as you pay more. The base model is the only Taycan with a single-motor and rear-wheel drive, with every other model coming with a dual-motor, all-wheel drive setup instead. The power quoted for the Turbo S and Turbo GTS is with the launch control feature on, with regular horsepower being 764 and 777 respectively.
Porsche imbues the Taycan with a ton of high-tech performance equipment. Every model comes with an air spring suspension as standard, with all-wheel drive models offering adaptive dampers. While its comfort can’t be overlooked, its the agility and engagement that it delivers that truly helps it stand out against other sporty electric cars.
Battery, Range, and Efficiency
Compared to alot of the other core EVs on the market, the range offered by the Taycan is a tiny bit underwhelming. The standard battery is an 89-kWh pack, with Porsche offering the option of upgrading to a 105-kWh pack for an additional cost. This delivers a range of between 252 miles and 318 miles depending on the model you opt for, which is much less than what some rivals are offering.
The upgraded battery doesn’t only improve capacity, but also charging rate, allowing it to be charged on a DC connection at up to 320 kilowatts. Porsche claims that this means the battery can go from ten percent to 80 percent in as little as 18 minutes, which does mean it is among the quickest charging EVs you can buy.
Safety and Driver Assist Features
- Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking
- Lane Departure Warning and Lane-Keeping Assist
- Front and Rear ParkAssist with Reversing Camera
- Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane-Centering
- Matrix LED Headlights
While a lot of the basic equipment you’d expect in any modern car is standard, there are some pretty common features that Porsche charges you extra for. You get most of the collision detection and avoidance systems as standard, but things like adaptive cruise control are not.
This EV Is Just As Comfortable and Practical As It Is Engaging
Porsche’s mission with the Taycan was to create a jack-of-all-trades EV that is as sporting as it is usable. When it comes to creating a luxurious super sports sedan, Porsche has clearly succeeded. Beyond its athletic abilities, it is a fantastic car to live with on a day-to-day basis, with a plush cabin and enough space for the whole family.
Interior Dimensions and Comfort Features
In classic Porsche fashion, interior dimensions are not publicly available, because legroom is something that needs to be kept hush hush. The Taycan comes with enough room for four as standard, though you can add space for another in between the two rear seats. We’d stick with the four-seat layout as it’s most comfortable for everyone. Cargo space is not best in class, but it isn’t bad by any means.
Porsche’s interior is incredibly plush, with the finest materials used throughout. As is the case with any Porsche, the Taycan is super customizable, with you able to select the type of upholstery and stitching that you’d like. There are a ton of high-end options available as well, including four-zone climate control, massaging front seats, and heated rear seats.
Infotainment and Technology
In any electric vehicle, technology plays a major role. Porsche has gifted the Taycan with a number of screens depending on your setup. In front of the driver is a 16.8-inch curved display for the gauges. A 10.9-inch touchscreen sits in the center of the dash, acting as a display for the infotainment system. A vertical 8.4-inch screen juts out of the center console and is used for the climate control system, along with a 5.9-inch screen in back for the rear HVAC controls. Another 10.9-inch screen is optionally available for your front passenger.
There are plenty of USB-C ports throughout the cabin for charging, along with a wireless smartphone charging pad up front. Both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are available and wireless. The base sound system is excellent, but a Bose system is available along with a Burmester system.
