IT’S not just slick new tech that has shocked iPhone fans this year – the record price has caught people’s attention too.
Apple bosses took to the stage with four new models but the big beast of the bunch comes at a very high cost.

It’s the first time the firm has virtually reached the 2k mark, which people have called “diabolical” and “insane”.
The most expensive iPhone handset is the iPhone 17 Pro Max with the biggest storage option, 2TB, retailing for £1,999 / $1,999.
It’s also the first time Apple has offered a whooping 2TB storage size for all your apps, videos and photos – up from the previous 1TB.
Although it’s a huge upgrade that warrants some form of price rise, iPhone users are shocked that we’re now in 2k territory.
“Out they damn minds,” one user raged on X.
“$2000 for an iPhone is diabolical behavior by Apple especially when you can store most large files in the Cloud,” another complained.
A third added: “2k for an iphone is insane.”
Meanwhile a fourth person joked: “Let me get a second loan on the house going for Tim.”
The iPhone 17 Pro Max is still available in other storage sizes for less, including £1,199 / $1,199 for 256GB, £1,399 / $1,399 for 512GB, and £1,599 / $1,599 for 1TB.
It’s one of four new handsets, sitting alongside the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air.
The cheapest option you can get is the base iPhone 17 from £799 / $799.
You can also knock up to £670 off if you trade in selected Apple products depending on their condition.
IPHONE AIR: EARLY VERDICT

Apple has managed to produce what is an extremely pocketable mobile with seemingly very few compromises.
The screen is a fairly giant 6.6 inches, making it bigger than the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro.
It’s also very lightweight at 165 grams.
By comparison, my iPhone 16 Pro Max is 227 grams. The difference is night and day.
The iPhone Air felt feathery in my hand, even though it’s built from weighty (and tough) titanium.
It’s also nice to hold because of the slim frame.
Apple has crammed most of the core components into the camera bump, leaving the rest of the phone’s body free for battery.
It’s impressive engineering and looks great.
