Every week, Netflix drops a bunch of new content for viewers to stream from TV and movie studios all over the world. Watching all of it would take you way too much time, so I decided to start my Friday by recommending three top picks for the weekend and week to come. Schedule your viewing around these shows and movies, and I’ll be tuning in along with you. This week is a pretty dark one, with a Jude Law prestige drama, international intrigue, and more.

Maledictions (Sept. 12)
Six-episode miniseries Maledictions from Argentina taps into the political unrest of the region, dramatizing a struggle when the president, working to pass a career-defining vote on lithium mining, learns his daughter has been kidnapped. Nothing is as simple as it seems, with old betrayals and conspiracies coming to the surface as he struggles to rescue his child.

Moving On (Sept. 14)
Here’s a fun one that you might have missed. Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin play estranged old friends who reconnect at the funeral of a mutual friend, only to realize that their friend’s dead husband was really the villain in all their lives. The duo hatch a revenge plot, and shenanigans ensue. We love an R-rated black comedy, especially with older stars.
Black Rabbit (Sept. 18)
Jason Bateman just loves to do Netflix series, doesn’t he? His latest is Black Rabbit, where he stars as the black sheep brother of a New York City restaurant owner who comes back into his life and brings chaos with him. This looks pretty solid, with great talent in front of and behind the camera, including Bateman’s Ozark co-star Laura Linney directing a pair of episodes.
