Enterprise automation is stepping back into the spotlight as companies grapple with the realities of artificial intelligence. UiPath Inc., a leader in robotic process automation, is among those driving the conversation — especially as ambitious projects often stall when implementation proves harder than anticipated.
This shifting landscape sets the stage for this year’s UiPath Fusion event, where industry leaders and practitioners will gather to explore how RPA and automation are evolving. The event underscores a broader trend toward combining intelligent agents with human expertise to achieve practical outcomes — from efficiency to governance — according to theCUBE Research’s Dave Vellante.
“Customers are realizing that AI isn’t as easy as they thought,” he said. “It’s why we’re seeing a resurgence in enterprise automation platforms. These systems are proven, trusted and hardened. As such, organizations are ‘AI-ifying’ them rather than trying to rebuild automation strategies from scratch. UiPath emerged as a leader in RPA and automation, and theCUBE is excited to be covering this year’s Fusion event.”
Join theCUBE, News Media’s livestreaming studio, from Sept. 30 – Oct. 1 for exclusive interviews and analysis during UiPath Fusion. In-depth conversations will explore how enterprises are leveraging agentic AI to drive business outcomes — connecting people, systems and digital agents — with insights from executives, industry experts and practitioners on the front lines of enterprise automation. Enterprise automation evolves from RPA roots to agentic AI with Maestro
At last year’s Fusion, UiPath spotlighted its Agent Builder tool as part of a broader push into agentic automation. The preview demonstrated how generative AI could be combined with RPA to create agents that go beyond simple task replication — signaling a shift toward intelligent systems that act on behalf of users, according to Vellante.
“UiPath is going through another transition,” he said in an article. “It led the RPA market where it was an innovator, and now it has an opportunity to evolve as a leader in agent-based automation.”
This year’s Fusion puts that opportunity in sharper focus as UiPath highlights Maestro, the comprehensive platform it announced in April 2025 to build and orchestrate teams of AI agents. The company positions the platform as a way to overcome adoption hurdles such as security, scalability and governance while dynamically optimizing workflows across agents, robots and people, according to Mark Geene, senior vice president and general manager of AI products and platform at UiPath.
“The process-centric focus limits the number of players that can orchestrate end-to-end processes,” he said in an article. “What we do with Maestro, our orchestration platform, is dynamically orchestrate across agents, robots and humans to execute a long-running workflow. It’s not a static workflow, but can adapt at runtime.”
