Meta seems to have spoiled its own big reveal. An unlisted video briefly appeared online, showing off two upcoming smart glasses.

The brief video, reported by UploadVR, shows a new pair of Ray-Bans with a built-in display and a sporty Oakley-style model with a camera.

Both are expected to headline the Meta Connect showcase this week, but the surprise is already out.

Ray-Ban smart glasses with a display

The most eye-catching of the two leaked products is the Meta Ray-Ban Display, which adds a tiny screen to the inside of the right lens.

In the leaked demo, wearers could pull up maps, translate street signs, or even ask Meta AI questions directly in their view.

The glasses work with a wristband that picks up subtle hand movements, letting you “write” or use gestures to reply to chats. This looks a lot like Meta’s experimental sEMG tech, which turns muscle signals into controls. It could be a big step up from the voice commands and touch gestures of the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses.

Of course, Meta isn’t alone here. Google is working on its own AR glasses with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, so Meta will need to prove its Ray-Bans aren’t just a flashy demo but something people will actually want to wear.

Oakley-style glasses with a camera

The second model resembles wraparound Oakley frames with a front-facing camera. Unlike the Ray-Ban Display, there’s no visible screen, which indicates that this pair might be more for photo/video capture than full AR overlays.

In contrast, the recently revealed Orion AR glasses offered bigger display ambition, which sets a different benchmark.

These could appeal to fitness fans or anyone who wants hands-free recording, but they don’t seem to push the same AR boundaries as the Ray-Ban model.

Leaking your own headline product isn’t ideal, especially right before the Meta Connect conference, which is set to take place on Wednesday, September 17, at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET / and 1 a.m. BST on the 18th. Still, the leaked products show how serious Meta is about smart glasses.

The leaked Ray-Ban Display, with its built-in HUD and wristband controls, is much closer to the Orion AR prototypes Meta showed off last year, only this time, it looks like a product rather than a lab experiment.
