Microsoft recalls that on October 14, the end of the Windows 10 cycle will not only be completed, at least in a generalized way: it will also be the final date for the Office 2016 and Office 2019as well as other related products. With this versions of the office suite, however, it will not happen as with that of the operating system: there will be no extensions or extended security updates.
In fact, the withdrawal is not limited to the best known applications of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), but also reaches Exchange Server 2016 y 2019as well as Skype for Business Server 2015 y 2019. In the case of the latter, the company announced in July a temporary extension for users signed to security update programs, although without guarantees that they arrive regularly. For Office, on the other hand, there are no exceptions.
As always, applications will continue to function normally indefinitely, but they will be maintained without maintenance, that is, they will not receive more security patches or technical assistance from the company. Not surprisingly, in any case: Microsoft has been pushing customers for some time Microsoft 365its cloud suite under subscription, with which it also ensures a more stable income flow.
For those who still prefer a local solution, the alternative passes through Office LTSC 2024, designed for corporate environments that do not want to depend on the Cloud model.
With respect to Microsoft Office en Windows 10In spite of what could be thought, given that this version of the system begins its viacrucis on October 14, it will not happen in the same way in the domestic or business sphere, for which a support will be provided extended by a three -year space throughout which the Price of the program will increase. And it will not be little for companies.
Well, those three years of additional support of what Windows 10 will enjoy, will be supported by Redmond with Microsoft Office, with the proviso that if specific maintenance is desired for the office suite, it must be through Office LTSC 2024 or Microsoft 365 (with the exception of Windows ARM, where only Windows 11 admits the local edition of the software).
