REDMI, a mobile phone sub-brand of Xiaomi, on Wednesday launched its annual flagship models, the K80 series, which includes the K80 and K80 Pro. The starting prices for the two devices are RMB 2,499 ($345) and RMB 3,699 ($510), respectively. “The company has made comprehensive upgrades to the products, but the cost pressure has also increased. REDMI is very grateful for the support of Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun,” Wang Teng, the general manager of the REDMI brand, said at the launch event. In 2024 and 2025, the K80 series will be the most cost-effective phone in the 2-3,000 yuan price range, Wang claimed. The K80 model is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, while the Pro version features the more advanced Snapdragon 8 Elite (Gen 4). [Lei Jun Weibo, in Chinese]
