Fashion and accessory brand Montblanc is best known for making pens, as well as other luxury goods like bags and watches. Now, Montblanc wants to enter the tech sphere with a new digital writing pad, inspired by its century of experience producing pens.

Montblanc’s first attempt at making a digital writing product came in 2016 with the Augmented Paper, but now the brand is trying again with its new Digital Paper. It’s a top-end version of a writing tablet aimed at competing with products like the Amazon Kindle Scribe or the Remarkable Paper Pro digital notepads.

The Digital Paper includes a black-and-white E Ink screen alongside a digital stylus so you can annotate, sketch, write, and more. Montblanc is putting a lot of the attention on the stylus itself.

It says, “Its sleek silhouette and perfectly weighted body offer lasting comfort for extended writing. Easily accessible buttons allow intuitive control of features, enhancing your flow without distraction.”

The stylus has 4,000 degrees of pressure sensitivity, so you can sketch, shade, and more. The stylus connects to a side bar near the screen of the tablet, which then charges it wirelessly. We’ve yet to learn how long the stylus will last without a recharge.

In fact, Montblanc hasn’t revealed some of the key tech specs for the Digital Paper. For example, we don’t yet know the screen’s size. What we do know is there’s a 3,740mAh battery that’s recharged by a USB-C port, plus there’s 64GB of storage for all of your files.

The tablet connects to an app on both Android and iOS, as well as a web portal, so you can move files to and from the Digital Paper.

You can order the tablet on Montblanc’s website, but the brand has yet to share exactly when it will be released. It’ll also cost more than other digital writing pads, as expected from a luxury brand. It’s $905 for the tablet, which comes with a stylus and two additional nibs.

The Digital Paper comes in Cool Grey, Elixir Gold, or Mystery Black colors. There are then folio accessories for $205 in black, blue, brown, and white. An extra stylus comes at a cost of $275, if you ever lose yours, while replacement nibs cost $40 for a box of eight.
