The Seattle Seahawks were flying high during a 44-13 win over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday — and a new mixed reality video production also took flight at Lumen Field.

The video featuring Taima the Seahawk was shown on in-stadium video boards before the second-half kickoff. A giant version of Taima is seen flying across the world before passing Mount Rainier and entering Lumen in full mixed reality, landing atop the Hawk’s Nest. The hawk screeches and a shockwave travels across the stadium to Blitz, the team’s other mascot, on the Fan Deck before the rallying cry, “12 AS 1.”

The aim is to fire up fans with a high-tech story and sound spectacle, combining a live video view of Lumen Field with mixed reality animation on top of it.

The immersive production is made possible by a partnership between the Seahawks, The Famous Group (TFG), and Lumen, utilizing Lumen’s network infrastructure and TFG’s virtual camera system.

The cameras are positioned in opposite stadium corners, looking diagonally downfield. The configuration provides full-stadium coverage, including end zones, for enhanced mixed reality experiences.

“We’re always looking for ways to make game day unforgettable for the 12s — and ‘Taima: Power Up’ is a bold new tradition that brings storytelling and technology together in a way fans have never seen before,” said Ryan Asdourian, chief marketing and strategy officer for Lumen Technologies, in a statement.

The Seahawks are the second team to utilize such an experience. TFG has previously worked with the Baltimore Ravens and provided mixed reality content for the NFL for the Super Bowl.
