Willo, a recruitment technology based in Glasgow, has secured a £3m investment from the founder of cyber giant Mimecast.
Founded in 2020, Willo is a candidate screening platform used by clients such as Samsung, DPD, Toyota and the NHS. The platform is used to verify candidate credentials, something particularly necessary, according to the company, amid a rise in AI-generated job applications.
“Employers tell us they are inundated with AI-generated CVs that are hard to verify and review. That’s making it increasingly difficult for genuine, qualified candidates to stand out,” said Willo co-founder and chief executive Euan Cameron.
“With Willo Verified Profiles, we’re building a new layer of trust into the hiring process – verifying identity, qualifications, skills and experience using a combination of automation, third-party data, and video interaction. It will be like a ‘blue tick’ for credentials.
The Scottish startup will use the newly secured funding to expand further into North America, a region already responsible for more than half of the company’s revenue.
The investment marks the largest single round received by the company, bringing its total funding to £5.9m.

Bauer co-founded email management and security platform Mimecast, currently valued at $5.8bn, in 2003.
