If your laptop or PC is still running on Windows 10, you might want to start thinking about your next step, really soon! It must be noted that Microsoft has already confirmed months back that support for Windows 10 will officially end soon. To be precise, on October 14, 2025. The only good news is that your device won’t suddenly stop working after that date. You can still use it just like before. On the other hand, the not-so-good news is that Microsoft will stop providing security updates, bug fixes, and technical support. Without these, your computer could slowly become more vulnerable to malware, viruses, and online threats. news Also Read: Forza Horizon 6 Will Feature Tokyo City And Japan’s Rural Landscapes: Here’s When It Releases On Xbox, PC, PS5

Windows 10 Support End: What Are Your Options?

The easiest solution is to upgrade to Windows 11. It offers faster performance, stronger security, and AI-powered tools that Windows 10 doesn’t have. If your PC meets the system requirements, you can simply update through the Settings app.

But if your device can’t handle Windows 11, you’ll eventually need to think about buying a new laptop or desktop that does. Brands like Dell, HP, Lenovo, Samsung, and Microsoft Surface already have plenty of Windows 11-ready models to choose from.

If you are not ready to give up on Windows 10 yet, then know Microsoft has introduced the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program. This allows you to keep getting critical security updates for a fee, even after October 2025.

  • For personal PCs: Enrol through Settings. You can use Windows Backup or Microsoft Rewards (both free), or pay around $30 per year.
  • For businesses: Costs about $61 per device, per year.
  • For cloud/virtual environments: ESU is included at no extra charge.

The ESU program will run from October 15, 2025, to October 13, 2026, and can be renewed for up to three years.

How to Upgrade to Windows 11

Another simple option is, just upgrade to Windows 11! If your PC is compatible, then follow these steps to upgrade your Windows 10 device to Windows 11:

  • Click on Start.
  • Open Settings.
  • Go to Update & Security.
  • Select Windows Update and then check for updates.
  • Follow the prompts to install Windows 11.
