OnePlus 15's New Sand Storm Edition Is Claimed to Be Tougher Than Titanium

The OnePlus 15 got its first look at last week’s Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit, but the first official look of the new phone provided by OnePlus on Monday is showing off a model that could be one of the most durable in the phone industry.

The upcoming OnePlus 15 will come in a Sand Storm model, which features a sand dune color and a material described as “aerospace-grade Micro-Arc Oxidation” on the phone’s middle frame and camera deco.

OnePlus says this toughness is created from a “high-voltage plasma process” that grows a ceramic coating onto the phone’s metal frame, resulting in it being 3.4 times harder than aluminum and 1.3 times as tough as a titanium mid frame.

While we’ll have to wait for the phone’s launch to get more details, if that claim holds up, I’ll happily watch and see if a YouTuber finds a way to break it open.

Otherwise, we know that the OnePlus 15 has the recently unveiled Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, a new cooling system and that the phone will feature a customizable button instead of an Action Slider.
