The hardware monitoring “HWMON” subsystem updates have been sent out for the Linux 6.18 kernel with some notable additions.
First up there is now a new HWMON driver for GPD handheld devices. Fan monitoring and control will now work with this driver under Linux to enhance the experience for these interesting devices:
Now-supported GPD devices by this driver in Linux 6.18 include the GPD Win Mini (7840U), GPD Win Mini (8840U), GPD Win Mini (HX370), GPD Pocket 4, GPD Duo, GPD Win Max 2 (6800U), GPD Win Max 2 2023 (7840U), GPD Win Max 2 2024 (8840U), GPD Win Max 2 2025 (HX370), GPD Win 4 (6800U), and GPD Win 4 (7840U).
The ASUS EC Sensors driver meanwhile added support for a number of newer AMD and Intel motherboards:
– B650E-I
– PRIME Z270-A
– Pro WS WRX90E-SAGE SE
– ROG STRIX X670E-E GAMING WIFI
