Artificial intelligence is consolidated as a widely recognized phenomenon among professionals in Spain, but its implementation in the workplace advances unequal and less pace than in other countries in our environment. This is reflected in the new report “Artificial intelligence and the employability of the future”prepared by GAD3 for planet Training and Universities, the Group Planeta Higher Education Network, offering a complete radiography on the knowledge, use and perception of AI between workers and managers in Spain, France, Italy and Colombia.

This study, continuation of the barometer presented in 2024 to higher education students, allows to expand the focus and analyze the real impact of AI, this time, on the business fabric. To do this, in the elaboration of this report, a total of 3,710 employees, including workers, through surveys and interviews in depth in the mentioned countries, have participated.

According to this work, 93% of Spanish workers say they know some artificial intelligence tool. However, the use of these technologies occurs much more frequently in the personal sphere than in the professional, which reflects the gap that still exists between knowledge and practical application in companies. Specifically, two out of three respondents of our country (67%) use them personally, being only half those who declare to do so in the work environment.

For Montse Civera, Academic Director of Planet Training and Universities, “Artificial intelligence is transforming the way we understand professional work and competences. Spain has ahead of the challenge of accompanying workers in this process, through training programs adapted to each sector and with an ethical vision that guarantees confidence in technology. Only we can turn the challenge into a real opportunity for growth”.

For its part, Narciso Michavila, president of GAD3, says that this technology “It represents a turning point in the configuration of employment, but we are still far from taking advantage of its full potential. Spain needs a determined impulse in training and in the development of ethical and regulatory frameworks that allow transforming the curiosity of workers into real competences applied to the day to day of companies”.

The generalized perception in Spain on artificial intelligence corresponds to that of an ally to automate routine tasks. About half of respondents (49%) do not yet perceive AI as a key tool for your day -to -day work. Other obstacles to its implementation are the low initiative by companies (29%), the absence of current training (22%) or lack of access to tools (17%).

Audiovisual and educational, leaders and artificial intelligence

At the sector level, audiovisual (71%) and educational (67%) They are the ones who are most using artificial intelligence at the moment. They are followed, with more discreet percentages, health -related activities (42%) and business services (41%).

Specifically, in the education sector, content generation (46%) and training and learning (42%). In this sense, the creation of educational resources, support for students, the training of teaching staff and planning and correction tasks are the main applications.

On the other hand, the most used tools in the audiovisual industry are the Content generation (38%), training and learning (35%) and design (33%). Its concrete applications are audiovisual production, marketing and content generation, software development and technical support.

As for the field of health, information tools (41%), those destined for training (31%) and entertainment (29%) are more common. The main applications are being the diagnosis, research, administrative tasks and patient monitoring.

Finally, in the business services sector, the most recurring uses are the informative (42%), those destined for entertainment (33%) and those related to training (31%). The activities in which artificial intelligence is most used are marketing and communication, technology, production and operations, and training and development.

Training and barriers in implementation

Training in artificial intelligence is erected as one of the great challenges of Spanish companies. Only one in ten Spanish workers (9%) has been formed in this technology within your company. It is noteworthy that the percentage of managers who have received training in AI (11%) exceeds that of workers (7%), which increases the risk of inequality in access to strategic competences.

At the organizational level, Spanish companies recognize the potential benefits of artificial intelligence, highlighting their ability to improve efficiency (indicated by 39%of respondents), increase productivity (38%), boost innovation (37%), and reduce costs (20%).

As a positive aspect, the study of planet training and universities and GAD3 highlights that Six out of ten Spanish companies have already implemented or developing training initiatives regarding artificial intelligencea percentage higher than the other countries participating in the report, France (45%), Colombia and Italy (both with 38%).

The work also analyzes the labor impact of artificial intelligence in Spain. Among the workers and managers surveyed fears of job reduction (indicated by 39%) and the salary decrease (20%).

Within the framework of its commitment to Employability in artificial intelligencePlaneta Training and Universities launched its applied artificial intelligence center a few months ago, planet training and universities – Nex · Ia, in alliance with Google Cloud and Deloitte. An initiative that aims to become the international reference for specialized training and applied research, placing artificial intelligence in the epicenter of educational and business innovation.

Under this premise, planet Training and Universities – Nex · IA, has already trained in tools of AI to more than 2,400 students and teachers who have been certified under the Google for Education partner stamp.
