Like many, Google Keep has made its forever home on my smartphone’s home screen. I developed a habit of jotting down everything. Interesting quote? Noted. A to-do list? Noted. Grocery list? Added. A link to that one funny video I found on YouTube? Pasted.

Keep was my note-taking, bookmarking, and reminder app, all in one. But at some point after a couple of hundred notes, it started becoming cluttered and bland. So, upon my friend’s recommendation, I replaced it with the new mymind note-taking app, which came with a set of features that I had no idea I needed. Now I am so much into them that I don’t think I’ll be going back to Keep anytime soon.

OS

Android, iOS, Browser extension

Developer

mymind Inc.

mymind is an AI-enabled smart note-taking app. It is an excellent alternative to the conventional note-taking app, such as Google Keep. With innovative features like auto-tagging and auto-categorization, note-taking becomes easy and efficient.

AI-powered notes

Notes are more refined and organized with AI

mymind features its very own AI that works in the background for you. It gets things done without requiring any extra steps from you. Once you save the note, mymind provides a concise, well-organized TL;DR with the gist of the content, whether it’s an image, a video, a note, or an article.

Its AI understands what you are saving and even adds tags as needed. With AI-enabled tags, you can find notes instantly. And its AI also helps you with intelligent bookmarking, which can differentiate content within links, such as books, articles, videos, news, and recipes. Anything you throw at it, it is capable of recognizing it.

Not just automatic tags, but it also allows you to use natural language to find the relevant saved notes. For an instant, if you have saved an article or an image, its AI will analyze it and fetch you the note based on the concept, logic, or color in the picture without needing to be precise with search terms.

Duplicate detection

No copies of any notes

I often save notes twice. That habit of mine made my Google Keep notes more cluttered and frequently confused me, as every time I searched for something, it showed me two identical notes, putting me in a dilemma about which one was the correct one, only to find out later that both were the same.

mymind notifies you every time you try to save the same note twice. It will ensure that you are aware of keeping a duplicate note. You can save the note anyway if you intend to, but if you don’t, it will save you time and effort.

Secured approach

Encryption for better safety and security

mymind was designed with safety and privacy as top priorities. It ensures that no data or details are shared with anyone unless the user chooses to do so. mymind emphasizes privacy by encrypting notes, while Google Keep encrypts data but may share metadata or content internally for service purposes.

Within the mymind app settings, you can also enable biometric app lock to keep your notes private and prevent unwanted entries.

In contrast, all Google services have access to Keep Notes, including the Gemini AI assistant and Google Search. This is in direct opposition to the principles that mymind upholds.

Focused experience

Stay locked to one note at a time

Unlike some apps that overwhelm with multiple options, mymind allows us to work in full-screen mode, providing a more focused and streamlined approach. It not only lets me focus on journaling and note-taking rather than being distracted by surrounding notes and other unnecessary features.

Focused mode is best if you frequently use the Notes app to journal or write articles; it’s perfect for you. And its AI will automatically tag your articles or journals, while giving it an ideal TL;DR, so you don’t need to worry about the length of any note. You can always get the gist of anything and everything.

Automatic organization

No more headache of categorizing

As mentioned earlier, mymind is enhanced with AI that automatically adds tags to the saved notes. Beyond that, mymind allows you to categorize these notes using its unique feature, Spaces, which leverages the AI’s capabilities and associated tags, making it easier to locate specific entries.

Under the Spaces tab, you will find all folders automatically created based on the content type, as well as both automatic and manual tags. This also helps with the search. For instance, if you have saved multiple YouTube links or other video formats, and you search for the term “Video” in mymind, the app will retrieve all relevant results containing videos and video links.

Serendipity

Recall and remove notes from the past

mymind offers a unique feature called Serendipity. To activate this feature, you need to save at least 50 notes within the app. Once you have saved 50 or more notes, Serendipity will begin to work by randomly displaying one of your old notes. This feature not only helps you recall memories, but it also allows you to decide whether to keep the note you see on the card.Serendipity adapts to your usage patterns by analyzing the notes you’ve saved, which means mymind becomes smarter the more you use it.

Make the most out of your mind with mymind

Mymind offers a modern, unique, and feature-rich approach to note-taking and journaling. This app enhances your experience while incorporating distinctive features, such as Serendipity, AI assistance, and spaces that further refine and elevate its value. For the most part, it’s free, but it also offers additional features with a subscription that starts at $4.99 per month. If you have been using any note-taking app on your phone or in a browser, mymind is definitely worth trying.
