Another iPad Pro leak points to M5 chip and more RAM

Apple’s next iPad Pro looks like it’s getting a serious performance refresh. New leaked unboxing videos suggest the upcoming 13-inch model will feature Apple’s new M5 chip and a minimum of 12GB of RAM, making it one of the most powerful tablets Apple has ever made.

The clips come from Russian YouTubers Wylsacom and Romancev768 (via MacRumors), who previously leaked the M4 MacBook Pro before it launched. With that track record, these new leaks are being taken seriously by Apple fans.

A faster & more efficient chip

Benchmark results from the leaked videos show the M5 delivering about 12% faster multi-core performance and up to 36% better graphics compared to the M4. The jump isn’t massive, but it points to improved power efficiency and smoother handling of demanding apps like 3D modelling and high-resolution video editing.

Last year’s M4 model was already known for its raw strength, as seen in the M4 iPad Pro, which highlighted how easily it handled creative workloads. The M5 seems to take that same power and make it feel more natural; faster when it counts, cooler under pressure, and better balanced overall.

More memory for all

The leaked 256GB model reportedly includes 12GB of RAM, bringing it in line with the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air. That’s a significant jump from the 8GB found in the lower M4 configurations. This change means every version of the iPad Pro will have the memory headroom to run complex projects, multitask without slowdowns, and handle upcoming AI-powered tools that rely heavily on RAM.

Small design changes

The overall look stays familiar. The ultra-thin frame and OLED display introduced in 2024 remain, but the “iPad Pro” nameplate has been quietly removed from the back. It’s a subtle tweak that fits Apple’s minimalist approach to design.

One rumoured feature, however, may have been cut. Earlier reports pointed to a dual front-camera setup for better framing in both portrait and landscape use. But the leaked units only show a single lens and an ambient light sensor. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says internal test models do have two lenses, though Apple has been known to drop features right before launch.

Opinion

The switch to the M5 chip has long been rumoured, but the increase in RAM is a pleasant surprise. We’re all for turning the iPad Pro into a long-term powerhouse.
