The Watch 8’s updated cushion design can also be found in the more expensive Classic and Ultra alternatives, and undoubtedly gives the affordable smartwatch a premium yet minimalistic finish.
Found within the Galaxy Watch 8 is advanced fitness coaching, which offers personalised workout regimes, alongside a plethora of clever sleep tracking tools, including a new bedtime guidance mode which notifies you when you should go to bed.
It’s worth noting that although the Galaxy Watch 8 can be paired with smartphones running Android 12 or newer, there are a few features that are reserved exclusively for Samsung Galaxy smartphones.
These tools include sleep apnea detection, which Mobiles Editor Lewis Painter praised for catching his own undiagnosed sleep apnea, and the ability to take ECG measurements and monitor blood pressure with a compatible cuff-style monitor.
It’s a shame these potentially life-saving tools aren’t available on anything other than a compatible Samsung Galaxy smartphone, and we can only hope this will change in the future.
