I’ve Uncovered the Deepest Desktop Discounts From the Fall Prime Day Sale

You’ll find so many things on sale right now because of Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days sale, but I’m laser-focused on big-ticket items that you can slice hundreds of dollars off of before the deals expire at midnight on October 8. One of the most attractive categories is desktops, and I’ve covered several Prime Day sales events. Gaming Desktop Deals

Gaming desktops come in various configurations, and it can be hard to hit that sweet spot between performance and price. At a 16% discount, though, this Alienware Aurora R16 build is tough to resist. In a sleek and minimal chassis with stylish LED accents, it’s got plenty of room for expansion and tons of ports. When we reviewed this model when it was released in 2023, we praised its quiet operation and admirable value, and this one has a cutting-edge RTX 5080 graphics card for ultra-high resolution play.

Here’s another decent midrange prebuilt gaming machine from Acer, this one built around a well-performing Ryzen 7 processor that we reviewed here. Here’s an entry-level desktop workstation from HP that Amazon has on sale for 30% off. With solid if unspectacular components, it’s an excellent choice for home offices or dorm rooms, as the 12th-generation Intel i5 processor is capable enough for spreadsheets, presentations, and chilling out watching Netflix, and 32GB of RAM lets you keep a ton of tabs open. Mini PC Deals

Pint-sized PCs are a popular choice for people who want close to tower PC performance without a massive tower taking up space, and Acemagic has a wide line of products in that space. We haven’t had a chance to bring the Vista V1 into the lab for testing yet. Still, if you compare it with our list of the best Windows mini PCs, it stacks up nicely for the price, with a capable Intel Twin Lake processor coupled with 16GB of RAM and a decent-sized SSD for a little over $150 during Big Deal Days. Apple’s latest Mac Mini is one of the best compact PCs on the market, with the new M4 processor delivering rip-roaringly fast macOS performance for productivity, creativity, and wasting time. In our review of this pint-sized powerhouse, we gave it an Editors’ Choice award, with praise for its revised form factor about the size of a CD jewel case (but a little thicker) and a weight of just 1.6 pounds. The minimal frontage is home to a pair of USB-C 3.1 ports and an audio jack, and the back has a trio of Thunderbolt ports and an HDMI output, in case you want to set up multiple monitors. This AMD-powered mini PC is a real overachiever, with an attractive rose gold casing surrounding carefully-composed internals including 16GB of RAM in a 4.6-by-4.4-by-1.9-inch chassis with plenty of ports on both sides, as well as an SD card reader for even more storage options. We reviewed the similar Geekom A6 and gave it an Editors’ Choice award, noting how well it performed in benchmarking on a suite of productivity apps and how well it compared with competing mini PCs in the same price range.

All-In-One Desktop Deals

All-in-ones are great options for families, because they’re flexible enough for kids to use for entertainment and grown-ups for house business and productivity. Lenovo’s 24-inch model is a solid deal at this price thanks to an 18% discount. While the Intel N100 processor isn’t going to blow your doors off, it’s capable for web surfing, media streaming, and the like, and the 23.8-inch display is clear and responsive with 250 nits of brightness. We loved our time testing the 2024 iteration of Apple’s all-in-one iMac, stating in our review that the refreshed colors and powerhouse performance made it one of the best stand-alone desktops on the market. We gave it our Editors’ Choice award. The sizable 24-inch Retina display has exceptional color and contrast, and the new M4 processor is a content creation beast, with an 8-core CPU and an 8-core GPU. Connectivity is excellent, with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 support, and four Thunderbolt USB-C ports on the back.
