Samsung Galaxy S3 sales have topped the 30 million units milestone just seven months after launch, the company has confirmed at CES 2013.

Making the announcement during its CES 2013 press conference, Samsung has revealed that its flagship Android smartphone, which it claims holds a 33 per cent market share of some handset markets, has sold more than 30m units globally to date as it continues to battle with the iPhone 5 for the crown of the world’s most popular smartphone.

Hitting the 30m marker well ahead of its Samsung Galaxy S2 predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is now firmly the company’s most successful handset to date as speculation and expectation grows around the Apple rival’s next flagship model, the heavily rumoured Samsung Galaxy S4.

Confirming the new milestone marker, Michael Abary, a Senior Vice President of Samsung America said: “The Galaxy S3 is the world’s bestselling smartphone with 30 million sold to date.”

Samsung Galaxy S3 Specs

A true powerhouse of the mobile sector, the Samsung Galaxy S3 features a high-end collection of innards with the handset’s expansive 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display with stunning 1280 x 720 image resolution taking pride of place on the device’s aesthetically pleasing 8.6mm thick, 133g in weight form factor.

With a zippy 1.4GHz quad-core processor running the show, the Samsung Galaxy S3 specs sheet is further bolstered by 1GB of RAM and the option of 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of internal storage.

Playing host to a pair of camera options, the Samsung Galaxy S3’s 8-megapxiel rear-mounted camera, with the now high-end standard 1080p Full HD video recording capabilities, is partnered by a second, 2-megapixel snapper around front. Elsewhere, integrated NFC technologies and the usual WI-FI and Bluetooth connectivity options also feature.

Are you a Samsung Galaxy S3 owner? Is the Samsung Galaxy S3 still the best handset on the market or has it be superseded by the likes of the iPhone 5 and Google Nexus 4 in recent months?
