As we settle into peak TV season and revel in the bounty of new titles dropping every single day, don’t let the buffet of choices overwhelm you. We’ve done all the hard work and sifted through this week’s best and most anticipated streaming releases so you don’t have to, and yes, you’re welcome.

Here are ten new series, film, and documentary titles to watch this weekend on Apple TV+, Netflix, HBO Max, and more, in order by release date.

10

True Haunting (Season One)

A new project from famed horror director James Wan (Saw) is here, and it comes to us in the form of a paranormal docuseries about real-life hauntings, as documented by those who survived them.

True Haunting dives into two true-life hauntings and otherworldly tales over the course of five episodes. The first three episodes, Eerie Hall, follow a college student athlete as he moves to college in upstate New York in the 1980s and is haunted by a spirit with a connection to his past. The last two episodes, This House Murdered Me, recount one family’s horrifying story of being terrorized by evil entities during the renovation of their Victorian home.

Just as the Millers settle into their new house, it’s broken into, and their sense of security is shattered, even after the police catch the burglar. As they continue experiencing strange sights and sounds, and an inhuman wraith threatens their son’s safety, the Millers bring in paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, who unearth the home’s very dark history.

True Haunting, Season One, premiered on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, and is currently streaming on Netflix.

Red Alert

A Paramount+ Original scripted series, Red Alert depicts the harrowing real-life events of the attack on Israel in early October 2023, when more than 1,200 concert-goers were murdered near the Gaza border and more than 250 were kidnapped. It was the largest, deadliest massacre in the country’s history.

The four-part series draws from the true experiences of several civilian survivors, weaving their personal stories of courage into “a cinematic narrative of the devastating terrorist attack that turned southern Israel into a war zone,” per the official Paramount+ press release. This will be intense, of course, because of the subject matter, but big names are also attached to this project: Pulp Fiction producer Lawrence Bender and Homeland producer Keshet Media Group are involved.

Red Alert premiered Tuesday, October 7, 2025, and is currently available on Paramount+.

Ozzy: No Escape From Now

This new Paramount+ Original documentary offers a deeply personal and moving portrait of the late rock legend’s harsh new realities as he attempts to appear on stage for one last performance.

Produced in partnership with the Osbourne family and MTV Entertainment Studios, Ozzy: No Escape From Now is a feature-length production that pulls back the curtain on the musician’s public persona to expose the devastating setbacks he has faced since taking a serious fall in early 2019. In presenting us with Ozzy’s warm, honest, vulnerable side, the film details how one event shattered the icon’s world and forced him to contemplate his identity while addressing his morality and questioning whether he can ever even perform again.

The documentary stands as a testament to Ozzy’s determination, witty outlook, courage, and unique talent, cementing his status as a rock hero to millions of fans.

Ozzy: No Escape From Now premiered Tuesday, October 7, 2025, and is currently streaming on Paramount+.

7

Boots (Season One)

Based on the Greg Cope White memoir, Boots is Netflix’s new scripted series of the week. Formerly known as The Corps, our story is set against the gritty backdrop of the 1990s U.S. Marine Corps, a time when it was illegal to be gay in the military.

Boots follows the military experiences of a closeted and directionless recruit named Cameron and his best friend Ray, who’s the son of a decorated Marine—no pressure there at all. When they’re tossed into the chaos of boot camp with a diverse group of trainees, the two must navigate a world that isn’t just built but also thrives on conformity and discipline as they make their way toward self-discovery.

A blend of biting humor and genuine, heartfelt emotion, the eight-episode series explores themes of identity, friendship, and resilience in the face of an institution whose sole purpose is to break them down so they can rebuild. Will it be enough to overshadow the Ed Gein serial killer show? Doubtful, but we’ll see. I’ve got my popcorn ready, though.

Boots, Season One, premieres Thursday, October 9, 2025, on Netflix.

The Alabama Solution

This HBO Original follows filmmakers as they head to an Alabama prison to film a revival meeting and wind up with something no one expected. When cameras stopped rolling on The Alabama Solution, whispered messages came from the incarcerated warning them that bad things were happening there and being covered up. It was a secret that lead to an immersive six-year investigation into the southern state’s prison system to uncover the truth.

The documentary features unprecedented direct access and showcases contraband cell phone video as filmmakers learn about a violent, suspicious death. As this shocking story unfolds in real time, it reveals what we fear and already know: It’s not just an isolated incident. This muckraking murder-mystery is one of corruption, violence, and a system in collapse that follows the incarcerated as they fight for survival and embark on a campaign of resistance. It’s also produced by The Jinx creator, Andrew Jarecki, so count on being drawn to the edge of your seat.

The Alabama Solution debuts Friday, October 10, 2025, at 8 p.m. ET on HBO Max.

Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars

Apple TV+ makes some fabulous documentaries, and I have no doubt that this newest addition will be anything short of mouthwatering. In Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars, chefs around the world open their kitchens and invite viewers to observe their process as they chase their first, or next, Michelin star. The documentary series is a Gordon Ramsay production offering rare access to the high-stakes world of Michelin-starred fine dining—non-stop yelling and insults TBD.

Over the course of eight episodes, host Jesse Burgess, of global food-and-travel platform TOPJAW, whisks you away to compelling culinary destinations, like Italy, Chicago, and the Nordics, to watch the different approaches culinary artists take to secure the highly prestigious, coveted award. Expect unprecedented access to Michelin, including rare, on-the-record interviews with anonymous inspectors.

This documentary series doesn’t just give you a chef’s perspective of how to achieve one of the culinary world’s most elusive honors. It also hits you with those emotional stories that drive the human pursuit of perfection.

Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars premieres globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, October 10, 2025.

Vicious

Be prepared to answer some questions and venture into a darkly empathetic place with Vicious, a new horror flick from writer/director Bryan Bertino, who’s best known for The Strangers. It looks to be packed with carnage.

Dakota Fanning stars as a woman named Polly who is trapped in a vicious loop of self-destruction due to identity struggles. Late one night, she receives an unexpected visit from a disoriented stranger, who leaves her with a box and one rule: Inside of it, place something you need, something you love, and something you hate. Once the woman leaves, the game is on, and when Polly opens the box, she’s drawn into a surreal, ever-changing nightmare where every choice she makes leads to terrifying consequences.

Vicious makes its original movie premiere on Friday, October 10, 2025, on Paramount+.

The Last Frontier

Adding to their list of Apple TV+ must-see titles of 2025, the streaming giant is bringing the chill to October with its newest series, The Last Frontier. I’ve screened it, and I can tell you it is robust with thrills and intrigue.

Oppenheimer’s Jason Clarke stars as Frank Remnick, the sole U.S. Marshal in charge of the quiet, rugged Alaskan frontier. When a prison transport plane carrying nearly two dozen criminals crashes in the remote wilderness and sets free 18 violent inmates, his jurisdiction is turned into a frigid nightmare. It’s up to Frank to protect his town and his family, but all that changes when he starts to suspect the crash wasn’t an accident but rather an intentional step of a well-crafted plan with devastating and far-reaching implications. Of course, this is a complex story, and there’s a lot more at play than just violent criminals on the loose and a suspected conspiracy. It’s explosive.

The ten-episode series also includes performances by Preacher’s Dominic Cooper, Simone Kessel, of Yellowjackets, Reservation Dogs’ Dallas Goldtooth, and the multi-award-winning Alfre Woodard. Starring in guest roles are Johnny Knoxville and Clifton Collins Jr., of Eddington.

The Last Frontier will see a two-episode season premiere on Friday, October 10, 2025, on Apple TV+. New episodes will roll out weekly on Fridays until December 5.

The Woman in Cabin 10

Based on Ruth Ware’s 2016 novel, The Woman in Cabin 10 is a psychological thriller film about a journalist who saw something, was gaslit into believing it didn’t happen, then risked her life to find out the truth.

Kiera Knightley stars as Laura “Lo” Blacklock, a journalist covering the maiden voyage of a luxury cruise ship. Late one night, she witnesses another passenger being thrown overboard, despite all guests, staff, and crew being accounted for—moreover, she’s gaslit into believing she dreamed it. However, she can’t let it go, and as she searches for answers, she lands in some serious hot water.

The Simon Stone-directed film also features Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso), Guy Pearce, of The Brutalist, The Gentlemen’s Kaya Scodelario, Surface’s Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and David Morrissey, of historical fiction epic Britannia.

The Woman in Cabin 10 premieres on Netflix on Friday, October 10, 2025.

The Chair Company

The Chair Company is the latest collaboration between actor-comedian Tim Robinson and his writing partner, Zach Kanin. They previously created two series together in which Robinson starred: the award-winning sketch comedy series I Think You Should Leave and 2017’s Detroiters.

In this new series, Robinson stars as William Trosper, a man whose obsession with a chair company leads him down a dark rabbit hole filled with some suspicious people. See, William suffered an embarrassing incident at work, and he just can’t let it go. As his obsession grows, he soon finds himself investigating an elaborate criminal conspiracy.

In addition to Robinson, the eight-episode-series cast includes Lake Bell, of Bless This Mess, as Barb Trosper, IT’s Sophia Lillis as Natalie Trosper, Will Price (After the Hunt) as Seth, and 60 Miles North’s Joseph Tudisco as Mike Santini. Lou Diamond Phillips recurs as Jeff Levjman.

The Chair Company debuts on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 10 p.m. ET on HBO Max.
