Apple CEO Tim Cook made a splash in China by appearing in a TikTok Apple Store live stream, announcing the launch of the iPhone Air for the Chinese market. The device will go on sale on October 22, with pre-orders opening on October 17. The iPhone Air, the world’s first all-eSIM model, was previously delayed in China due to the absence of eSIM support from local carriers. With approval now granted to the country’s three major operators, the device is finally available to Chinese consumers. Measuring just 5.6mm thick, the iPhone Air combines portability with performance, powered by the A19 Pro chip and featuring AI-based power-saving technology. [Tim Cook Weibo, in Chinese]
