Do you remember Max? Sorry, maybe I need to clarify. I don’t mean Mad Max or Max Scherzer or even Max Power. I mean the streaming service formerly known as HBO Go (kind of), then as HBO Max, then just Max, and finally, as of February 2025, as HBO Max (again). Well, Apple is following in HBO’s footsteps and rebranding Apple TV+ as simply Apple TV. The announcement was made (quietly) on Monday. No word on how Apple plans to disambiguate its streaming service (Apple TV) from its media player (Apple TV), but I, for one, welcome the change since I was always calling Apple TV+ just “Apple TV,” anyway. Here’s hoping the newly rebranded Apple TV (streaming service) will also follow HBO’s footsteps in pumping out quality, high-production value television year after year.
