Samsung looks to have quietly pulled the plug on its thinnest Galaxy plans – is this Edge series already set to be ditched?

South Korean outlet Newspim reports the company has halted development of the Galaxy S26 Edge after the S25 Edge flopped in sales, and may stop producing remaining S25 Edge units once current stock runs out.

Noted leaker Ice Universe has backed up the claim, saying the S26 Edge is “definitely gone.”

I got the information from my independent source:
Galaxy S26 Edge is definitely gone, 100% correct.

Newspim says the S25 Edge has sold just 1.31 million units through August, a tiny amount compared to the rest of the S25 family. Those gaps suggest that buyers preferred the mainstream S25 models and Ultra over Samsung’s ultra-thin experiment.

Too thin, too many compromises?

The Galaxy S25 Edge was notable for its wafer-thin 5.88mm profile, but that slimness came with trade-offs.

It launched at a price closer to premium-tier Galaxy S25 Ultra while packing a 3900mAh battery, which is well below the 4,900-5,000mAh cells in the Galaxy S25 Plus and S25 Ultra.

The Edge also dropped a telephoto module that leaves only the main and ultrawide shooters, which made for a less versatile camera array.

We liked the Galaxy S25 Edge when we reviewed it, although it wasn’t a complete hit – and certainly not the best phone for most people. Our reviewer was disappointed by the battery life, the slower-than-average charging and the lack of that telephoto lens.

The S25 Edge came out before the iPhone Air, another slim device, so it’ll be interesting to see how that phone performs over the next year and if Apple decide to release a second iteration.

What does this mean for Galaxy fans?

Of course, at this stage, this is just a rumour – and nothing will be confirmed until we hear it from Samsung itself next year alongside the S26 series launch.

But if the Edge is gone, hopefully it isn’t the end for experimental design at Samsung. Even if it’s just a clear signal that the company won’t push awkward compromises to market if buyers don’t bite.

What it could do instead is fold Edge ideas into future flagships more sensibly, with thinner bezels or subtle slimming without gutting battery or optics.
