Expedition 33 follows a group led by a man named Gustav, who set on a journey to stop the Paintress, an otherworldly being who wipes out anyone at a specific age every year. Along the way, Gustav and his crew come across notes from past expeditions that have perished before them, as well as encounter powerful enemies that block their path. The game takes inspiration from turn-based RPGs like Persona and Final Fantasy. Set in a dark fantasy Belle Epoque-inspired environment, Expedition 33’s emotional story and characters make it one of the best games of 2025.
