TL;DR

  • Early Galaxy XR buyers get an “Explorer Pack” worth up to $1,000.
  • The bundle includes perks such as Google AI Pro, YouTube TV, and NBA League Pass.
  • It also includes a bundle of specialized XR games and content, but you have to purchase the device before the end of the year to get it.

Is the Galaxy XR expensive? Yes. Is it frustrating that you have to pay an additional $500 to add both the controllers and the travel case? Also yes. However, at least it didn’t arrive with the same $3,499 price tag as the Apple Vision Pro, and we had always known it wouldn’t be exactly cheap. If you’re on the fence about throwing down the best part of $2,000 or more, this hefty dent in your bank balance can at least come with a multi-part silver lining, as early adopters of the device can score an “Explorer Pack” worth as much as $1,000.

Don’t want to miss the best from Android Authority?

This obviously isn’t as good as getting $1,000 off the hardware, but it’s something. Usually, when Samsung releases a new flagship device, you can save a substantial amount by trading in the previous generation model, but that’s not applicable in the case of the Galaxy XR. We would have also settled for the accessories to be included in the initial $1,800, but it is what it is. The Explorer Package might be the next best thing, and anyone who picks up the device before the end of 2025 will receive it.

If you’re thinking of gifting the Galaxy XR to a loved one or, better still, yourself, in time for the holidays, here’s a breakdown of the extras you’ll get:

  • 12 months of Google AI Pro;
  • 12 months of YouTube Premium;
  • 12 months of Google Play Pass;
  • $1 per month trial of YouTube TV for three months;
  • Access to the 2025-2026 season of NBA League Pass;
  • Access to Status Pro’s NFL PRO ERA, Project Pulsar from Adobe, Asteroid, and Calm.

There’s a reasonable chance that you already have some of the subscriptions if you’re a fan of the Google and YouTube ecosystem, but getting a bundle of XR games and other specialized content to get you started should take some of the sting out of paying extra for your controllers. The NBA League Pass is a nice sweetener for sports fans.

If you want to learn more about the details of the Explorer Package, hitting the widget below takes you to the Galaxy XR purchase site. Samsung obviously realizes that not everyone will be able to fork out the full retail price for the XR headset as the holidays approach, so a 12-month payment plan is available at $149 per month.
