Instagram, the Meta-owned popular video streaming app, has finally answered one of the biggest user requests, and that is the ability to rewatch every Reel you have ever scrolled through. Yes, you heard that right! The social media giant has rolled out a brand-new feature on its platform called ‘Watch History.’ This feature will allow users to access as well as manage their entire viewing history in one place.
This feature will now save you time and the frustration of losing track of an interesting Reel you forgot to save. With this new update, Instagram is making the platform even more user-accessible and friendly.
What is the Watch History Feature on Instagram
Many times, you must have found yourself desperately scrolling to find that one Reel that you found interesting but forgot to save. You are not alone in this frustration because until now, users had to either save the video or share it with themselves. But now the new Watch History feature will change everything completely. You will now get rid of the frustration of missing that favorite Reel of yours. You can now browse through every Reel you have watched within the past 30 days. In addition, you can also sort them by date and even filter by specific creators.
What Instagram is Saying About its New Watch History Feature
The rollout was announced by Instagram Head Adam Mosseri in a video, emphasizing the idea that the feature is set to help users rediscover the content that they could not find after they once loved. This feature makes the site far easier to use for both the average user and the content producer.

Instagram’s Push for Personalization
This is not the only new development that has been introduced by Instagram in recent times. The Meta-owned platform has recently increased the maximum time to 3 minutes in addition to 90 seconds in Reels, as well as introduced the option to dub Reels in various languages, such as Hindi, English, Portuguese, Spanish, and relies on AI translation systems available at Meta. Also, Instagram has introduced the ability to repost Reels by other users and has a separate tab in which one can see Reels that their friends have liked or shared.
Finally, with the Watch History option, Instagram can now compete with YouTube and even TikTok, who are already have similar features available on their platform. It is a little, yet huge difference, one that at last makes the process of losing a great Reel a thing of the past.
