Withings continues to plow its furrow: designing connected watches that sacrifice nothing in watchmaking elegance. With the ScanWatch 2 (2025 edition), the French manufacturer retains this sober and premium watch design which has made it successful, while boosting the intelligence of its algorithms. At the heart of this evolution: HealthSense 4, the new OS developed internally. It is he who now orchestrates no less than 35 biomarkers, continuously analyzing the heart, sleep, breathing, temperature, and even the menstrual cycle.
An ambitious challenge: transforming measurement into anticipation, but also capable of detecting changes in health very early on. Available since September 2025 at a Price of €349.95, the ScanWatch 2 is clearly aimed at users who want to understand their health without giving up the elegance of an analog watch. We tested it for a few weeks.

Watch design and daily comfort
In terms of form, Withings remains faithful to its philosophy: a real watch above all.
Stainless steel case, sapphire crystal, fluoroelastomer bracelet and careful finishing: the ScanWatch 2 maintains that premium look that distinguishes it from touchscreen sports watches. The analog dial houses a small, discreet OLED screen, sufficient to read its basic data without transforming the watch into a mini-smartphone. Just below, another complication allows you to track your daily step goal at a glance.
The 2025 edition brings a new blue and silver version, alongside the existing black and silver versions. Still waterproof to 5 ATM, the watch is suitable for swimming, showers, but not diving. Navigation is carried out via a rotating crown – without a touch screen, which may be surprising at first, but guarantees better autonomy and simplified use. Worn every day, it seduces with its lightness and discretion. Even during the night, it remains comfortable to wear, which promotes the continuous use essential for intelligent monitoring. On the other hand, we can only advise you not to settle for the FKM (fluoroelastomer) bracelet. The watch deserves better, like a leather or metal model.
AI for predictive health
The big new feature of this version: predictive AI. Thanks to algorithms for fine analysis of variations in body temperature, heart rate or breathing, the watch claims to anticipate certain health events: arrival of periods, signs of an infection, drop in vitality, etc. The TempTech 24/7 sensor, associated with a heat flow sensor, would make it possible to distinguish the temperature of the body from that of the environment, a point often neglected in competing watches.

Withings is also introducing a new indicator: vitality. This score, accessible to people subscribed to the Withings + offer, aggregates key data (heart rate variability, sleep, oxygen saturation, temperature, activity, respiration) to give an estimate of the daily energy level and understand the causes of fatigue. She no longer simply records data: she attempts to interpret their correlations. The ScanWatch 2 can thus notify its wearer in the event of unusual variations – whether it is a sleep disturbance or the start of a viral illness.

Sleep tracking and female cycles: even finer
Withings promises in-depth deciphering of sleep thanks to a new algorithm capable of detecting paradoxical sleep phases (REM), essential for memory and stress regulation. Nocturnal respiratory rate is also measured continuously, paving the way for more comprehensive analyzes of rest quality and recovery signals. In addition, the watch is capable of detecting sleep apnea, useful when we know that this cardio-respiratory disease is largely underdiagnosed in France. It is estimated that 20% of French people suffer from obstructive sleep apnea syndrome.
The watch is also intended to be an advanced menstrual tracking tool, capable of accurately predicting the different stages of the cycle, including when it is irregular. By combining thermal and cardiovascular data, Withings aims to provide useful assistance during perimenopause, an approach that is still rare on the connected watch market.
Heart, activity and breathing under continuous monitoring
Cardiac monitoring remains one of the pillars of the ScanWatch 2. Heart rate monitoring is permanent thanks to PPG technology, capable of passively detecting certain rhythm disorders, such as atrial fibrillation. The user can then confirm the measurement via a medical grade ECG, a strong argument for preventive use. Premium users also have the option of going a step further by carrying out a “cardio check-up” with a cardiologist. Subscribers are entitled to four analyzes of this type per year. The principle? We select an ECG analysis carried out which is sent to a health professional who performs an in-depth decryption and sends you his conclusions within 24 hours.
On the activity side, a new step detection algorithm and automatic exercise recognition enrich sports monitoring. Nothing revolutionary, but an approach consistent with the health rather than performance vocation of the watch.
Record autonomy and a redesigned application
This is one of Withings’ historic strengths, and the brand is still widening the gap. Thanks to its new battery, the ScanWatch 2 claims an autonomy of up to 35 days. In practice, everything will of course depend on the number of activated sensors, continuous sleep monitoring or ECG measurements. Even with all the sensors activated, the watch lasts more than a week without flinching. Endurance that allows monitoring 24/7, and that’s the whole point. Nighttime monitoring finally becomes relevant, without the constraint of having to “manage” the battery. Enough to offer real continuity of health data and, consequently, better statistical reliability. To recharge it, a base allows you to mount the watch. A USB-C/USB-A cable is provided.
On the software side, the experience is through the new Withings App application, completely redesigned. The “Focus” tab allows you to personalize your dashboard by pinpointing the indicators deemed to be priorities: sleep, activity, temperature, vitality, etc. The rest is presented in the form of trends for an overall vision. For those who want to go further, Withings+ (one month free with purchase then €9.95/month) unlocks the 24/7 AI health assistant, personalized advice, and access to advanced indicators such as the famous vitality score.
A global approach to health
What is striking about this generation is the desire to offer an overall vision: sleep, activity, stress and recovery now interact within the same ecosystem. The application allows you to correlate the effects of sleep on fatigue, activity on stress, or even menstrual cycles on recovery.
This intelligent cross-referencing of data makes the watch more useful than just a gadget. We are moving from descriptive monitoring to a real analysis tool.
