First launched in 2023, Withings’ bowl-mounted urine lab is now on sale worldwide.

The U-Scan sits inside your toilet, takes a tiny sample when you pee, runs a test, and then sends results to the app. It comes in two versions: Nutrio for nutrition tracking and Calci for kidney health.

Nutrio tracks hydration, ketones, vitamin C, and overall acidity to show how your body responds to food, while Calci focuses on kidney-health signals such as calcium levels, hydration, and acidity to help manage kidney-stone risk

Both versions work with the U-Scan Station, a countertop base that cleans and charges the puck between cartridge swaps.

You pick how often to test. The Proactive package is set up for lighter checks, while the Intensive option doubles the cartridges for more frequent use. Bundles start at $379.95 / £319.95 / €349.95 and the Intensive at $449.96 / £389.96 / €429.96, with refills starting from $99.95 / £89.95 / €99.95 per renewal. A Withings+ subscription is included, so all features are unlocked from day one.

This gadget has been a long time coming after its CES debut. The idea has not changed much since that first showing. A thermal sensor detects urine, a small motor injects a sample into a test pod, and the unit cleans itself once you flush. The aim is to turn occasional lab tests into at-home feedback you actually use, without changing your routine or adding another device to your countertop.

Bottom line, U-Scan brings a lab-style check to a place you already visit several times a day. Less faff, more timely data, and a clearer view of hydration, diet response or kidney health depending on the kit you choose.
