Red.esattached to the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Service through the Secretary of State for Digitalization and AI, The deadline for submitting applications to participate in the RedIA Salud call has openedwhich aims to promote the use of Artificial Intelligence in the health sector.
This call, already published in the BOE, has been open since last November 3, and will be open until Monday, January 5, 2026, when the deadline for accepting applications will end. RedIA Salud, endowed with 50 million euros, will finance the use of AI in the health sector, with applications ranging from assisted diagnosis to personalized medicine or emergency care.
Like other RedIA calls, the one dedicated to health is financed by the EU through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), and is part of the Pluriregional Operational Program of Spain 2021-2027. These funds are aimed at companies that develop projects based on AI in Spanish territory, and in the case of this aid, the minimum amount to be granted will be 400,000 euros, and a maximum of 5 million.
RedIA Salud will finance projects that promote the adoption of AI in health through initiatives for all stages of the care process. From prediction, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring, to clinical, biomedical and pharmacological research, health systems management or emergency response. Projects must include demonstration, validation, or certification in a real-world data environment. Each company can present as many projects as it considers.
All proposals will have to make intensive use of technologies associated with AI, such as machine learning, deep learning or generative AI. In addition, the projects must have the effective collaboration of the necessary agents for their proper execution. Among them, hospitals, health services, companies, universities, research centers, patient or professional associations.
To facilitate the registration process, Red.es will publish an informative webinar in the coming days on their YouTube channel to explain in detail the requirements, evaluation criteria and steps necessary to submit proposals.
On the other hand, the RedIA call has closed its aid application submission phase, with 1,048 applications from companies to finance AI projects for experimental development and improvement of products, processes and services.
The total economic volume of the projects presented, according to the provisional data reported, is 884 million euros. It is led by small companies, with 60.5% of the requests, followed by large companies with 22.5% and medium-sized companies with around 17%. The proposals received focus on high-impact technologies, especially in the fields of AI technologies, cybersecurity, and robotics and autonomous systems.
