Tech industry figures in the West Midlands have hailed the region as having the UK’s “fastest-growing tech sector” at the seventh annual Birmingham Tech Week.
The event, held in late October, saw more than 8,000 figures from across the tech and investment industries visit the UK’s second largest city.
As well as panels, summits and symposiums on key tech themes, Birmingham Tech Week also saw several major announcements in support of the region, including the £187m TechFirst programme launched to bring AI and digital skills into classrooms, careers and communities and the WMCA’s 10-year vision to help SMEs harness AI.
“The West Midlands is redefining the future of tech and is often heralded as having the fastest-growing tech sector in the UK,” said TechWM and Birmingham Tech Week chief executive Andy Hague.
“Birmingham Tech Week plays a vital role in this mission, providing businesses, entrepreneurs, and leaders with a space to network, innovate, and share ideas to champion our region’s growth.
“The 2025 edition, attended by over 8,000 people including international delegates from across the world, was our most successful yet and it was incredible to see events packed throughout the week, truly showcasing our thriving tech ecosystem.”
