HEDD Audio has introduced the HEDDphone D1, which is the first dynamic driver headphone to use a Thin Ply Carbon Diaphragm design
In its press release, the company says that the D1 uses a 50mm dynamic drivers made from Thin-Ply Carbon, which uses ultra-thin, aligned layers bonded for a high stiffness-to-density ratio that’s then formed into a diaphragm that manages resonances structurally. This apparently reduces reliance on traditional damping and improves accuracy across the audible band.
In short, the D1 promises monitor-grade precision with the intimacy of some of the best headphones, pairing an ultra-light diaphragm with a compact driver and tuning. And with 32 Ohm nominal impedance and 100dB sensitivity, it’s easy to drive from everyday gear, as well as with a quality amplifier. It’ll also come with a carry case, a textured detachable dual 3.5mm cable, and a 6.35mm adapter.
Beyond the specs, the company has made a product set to last with the D1 offering a modular, serviceable design, as well as a huge five year warranty.
The HEDDphone D1 is available now for £599 /€699 / $799.
