Apple released the first beta of iOS 26.2 this week, with changes for Apple News, Apple Podcasts, Liquid Glass, and more.

As it turns out, iOS 26.2 also brings a big improvement to Apple Music: support for offline lyrics.

Apple first added lyrics to Apple Music way back in 2016. The feature has gotten significantly better ever since then, adding features like search, live lyrics, karaoke mode, lyric translations, and more. Support for accessing lyrics, however, has always required a data connection, whether that be Wi-Fi or cellular.

As spotted by Apple Music users on Reddit, however, iOS 26.2 finally changes that. Now, you can take full advantage of Apple Music’s robust lyrics features even when offline.

This is a common feature request among Apple Music users for years, so it’s notable that Apple has responded.

Why would someone need offline Apple Music lyrics? Perhaps you’re somewhere without connectivity, such as on a plane, and want to follow along with the lyrics of a new song or album. The feature will also come in handy in areas where you might have some service, but not enough to really do anything.

Previously, Apple Music lyrics just wouldn’t appear at all in these situations.

Nonetheless, the addition of offline lyrics in Apple Music is a quality-of-life improvement more than anything. You might not notice it right away, but you’ll be glad that it exists when the need does arise. It also gives Apple Music another advantage over Spotify, which requires a network connection to access lyrics.

Are you an Apple Music user? How often do you use the app’s various lyrics features? Let us know down in the comments.
