Apple’s Dynamic iPhone charger is finally available in the UK

Apple’s compact high-output 40W Dynamic Power Adapter, which debuted alongside the iPhone 17 lineup in September, is now sold in countries that use the three-prong Type G plug.

That means an official UK version with a folding three-pin design, sized to slip into a pocket or a cable pouch without taking up much space.

The new Type G model is available in the UK and Ireland, with wider reach across Hong Kong, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Malaysia. It matches the footprint of Apple’s older 20W brick but doubles the sustained output to 40 watts.

For quick top-ups, it can deliver up to 60 watts in brief bursts, helping to jump-start a charge when you plug in, and then taper to sustained power for the remainder.

The design differs from the original two-prong versions sold since September in countries such as the United States and Canada. Those regions continue with flat folding pins, while the new batch uses a three-prong mechanism that tucks away when you are on the move.

If you travel often between regions, you will still need the correct plug style for each stop, but Apple aims for the same result in every version. It keeps the size small and the output high, so you get faster charging without a bulky adapter.

Apple previously launched this adapter in the U.S., Canada, China, Japan, Mexico, Taiwan, and the Philippines, so this rollout fills a big gap for Type G households. Pricing varies by country, with the charger listed at $39 in the US and £39 in the UK.

You should still make sure your cable and device can take advantage of the extra power, but the adapter itself handles the smart part. It sets the right level for your iPhone, iPad, or other USB-C device and only uses those short 60W bursts when it is safe and useful.

If you have been holding out for a UK-friendly version, well, this is the one to get. You keep the pocketable size of the 20W charger and gain headroom for faster top-ups today and future devices tomorrow.
