After several months of rumors, Nintendo officially announced the production of a LIVE Action The Legend Of Zelda film at the beginning of 2025. The film is already planned for May 7, 2027 (in the United States) as well as the 5th of 2027 In France.

It will be about third film produced by Nintendo, after the excellent Super Mario Bros: The Movie (released in April 2023) and the sequel, Super Mario Galaxy : The Films which is expected for April 2026.

Discover now all the information we know, so far, about this LIVE Action film The Legend Of Zelda. A file which will, of course, regularly updated over the weeks and months to be as complete as possible.

The Legend Of Zelda : Nintendo’s Should Licence

The Legend Of Zelda is a cult license of the Japanese manufacturer Nintendo which will celebrate in 2026 his 40th birthday. Indeed, it was in 1986 on the Nintendo NES that the very first game was released. The license was created by Shigeru Miyamoto (to whom we also owe the licenses Super Mario et Mario Kart), et Takashi Tezuka.

The story mainly tells the story of a young hero, Link, who travels the lands of the kingdom of Hyrule in order to free Princess Zelda from the merciless Ganon (or Ganondorf in his human form).

At the end of the 80s, The Legend Of Zelda is clearly one of the very first “open-world” gamesoffering large open areas to explore. Over the years, the formula has improved further, making this license a cult and essential video game series.

To date, the saga The Legend Of Zelda account 21 opus on most Nintendo home (and portable) consoles. The last two main games to date are The Legend Of Zelda : Breath Of The Wild and its sequel, The Legend Of Zelda : Tears Of The Kingdom sur Nintendo Switch et Nintendo Switch 2.

The Legend Of Zelda : un film LIVE Action pour 2027

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the saga, Nintendo wanted to mark the occasion. If we suspect that a new video game is in preparation, we will also have to count on a film which will arrive May 5, 2027 in French theaters et May 7, 2027 in the rest of the world. First expected for March 24 and 26, 2027, Nintendo delayed the release of the film this summer.

Unlike the two films Super Mario (one 2023 et 2026), Nintendo abandon the animation to make a real first LIVE Action movie. A major new challenge for Japanese society.
