iPadOS 26.2 beta 3 was released for developers yesterday, and now one day later, Apple has followed up by shipping a new public beta too. Here’s what’s changed in iPadOS 26.2 public beta 2.

iPadOS 26.2 public beta 2 upgrades Slide Over and Split View with drag and drop support

Last week, Apple shipped iPadOS 26.2 beta 2 for developers, but opted not to release a public beta version.

Today though, a new public beta has arrived, bringing all of the additions from developer betas 2 and 3.

The single biggest update is drag and drop support returning to iPad for initiating Split View and Slide Over.

This feature was a casualty of iPadOS 26’s new windowing system, but now it’s back and works great. As a longtime iPad Pro user, I’m very much loving these frequent iPad feature upgrades.

Other changes include Liquid Glass continuing to expand and be refined throughout iPadOS.

Joining the updated slider for the Lock Screen clock that debuted in beta 1, public beta 2 makes Liquid Glass animations more fluid than before and a closer match to what Apple showed at WWDC. Additionally, Lock Screen buttons inside Notification Center for clearing notifications use Liquid Glass now.

One of the fun recent beta changes is actually for the Mac, not iPad. It’s a new ‘Edge Light’ feature to improve video calls. Perhaps we’ll see Edge Light come to the iPad in a future software update too.

If you’re already part of Apple’s public beta program, you should see iPadOS 26.2 beta 2 inside Settings ⇾ General ⇾ Software Update. If not, you can sign up at beta.apple.com.

Have you installed the latest iPadOS 26.2 beta, and if so, how is it running for you? Let us know in the comments.
