Roborock’s Qrevo CurvX made me a believer in robot vacuums

There are household appliances you can convince yourself you don’t need. Sometimes, you’re right — I mean, who needs a 9-in-1 coffeemaker, rice cooker, and ice cream machine? For a while, I even put robot vacuums into that same category. After all, as a dad of two cats in a one-bedroom apartment, I didn’t think I had that much space to worry about. Besides, my traditional vacuum was doing just fine, even if I did have to grab a mop from my closet afterwards.

Then, the Roborock Qrevo CurvX showed up, and it changed my tune. Between its ultra-thin design, powerful suction, and smart features that actually ensure that I don’t have to keep a constant eye on it, it’s pretty much taken over my home cleaning routine. Here’s how it made me a believer in robot vacuums and why you might want to consider one, too — especially with Black Friday just around the corner.

My house has a new king of the limbo

It’s funny; when brands decided that 2025 would be the year of the razor-thin flagships, I really thought they would stick to phones. I figured that the iPhone Air and the Galaxy S25 Edge would be the extent of my slimmed-down reviews for the year and that I’d go right back to life as I knew it. Then, Roborock took that logic of being slim yet powerful and transformed it into a robot vacuum cleaner.

Alright, well, Roborock probably didn’t take its cues from either Apple or Samsung, but that doesn’t change the fact that the Qrevo CurvX is unbelievably compact. It stands at just 7.98cm (3.14 inches) tall, which is low enough to glide under almost all the furniture in my apartment with ease, including some that I didn’t expect to fit. The Qrevo CurvX breezed under my coffee table, my bed, and a dresser or two, then followed it up with a journey under my couch — territory that hasn’t been navigated since the day I moved in.

Outside of a brief hang-up, which was my fault for leaving a cluttered maze under my couch, it cruised from one room to the next, using its RetractSense LiDAR to anticipate chair legs, my bed frame, and more. In open spaces, the Qrevo CurvX’s LiDAR unit sticks out of the top of the vacuum, like most scanning-equipped robots, allowing it to keep a 360-degree eye on the situation. Then, as it dips under furniture, the sensor retracts, slimming the robot’s profile and switching to a 100-degree view to navigate much tighter spaces.

Just as impressive, though, is the way that the Roborock Qrevo CurvX handles a change in flooring. Its AdaptiLift chassis works in almost the opposite way that the RetractSense LiDAR does, picking out and lifting over single-layer thresholds of up to 3cm (1.18 inches) or dual-layer thresholds of up to 4cm. My apartment is, thankfully, not that complicated, so the Qrevo CurvX has only had to navigate a few stacked rugs and the cable for my power strip, but it’s done both with ease.

Also, I know I said the Roborock Qrevo CurvX is my first tangle with a robot vacuum, but I have to admit that’s not true. The last one, however, which only served as my cleaning assistant for about a week, just couldn’t figure out how to handle the tassels of an Oriental rug I received from family members. Each time it approached, it seemed to go right for the tassels, almost asking to get tied up. With the Qrevo CurvX’s AdaptiLift chassis, though, I’ve yet to meet the same issue. Faced with those very same tassels, Roborock’s sensors kick in, reminding the robot to lift its way over the challenging surface rather than push right through.

Enough suction to put me out of a job

And, now that we know Roborock’s Qrevo CurvX can fit nearly anywhere — much to the chagrin of my cats — let’s get into what actually matters: the cleaning. See, when you share a carpeted home with two little furballs, there’s bound to be some shedding, which previously meant I’d reach for my traditional vacuum no less than once per week. This usually led to one round of emptying cat hair from the dust bin, but possibly two rounds, depending on the amount of hair I picked up.

With the Qrevo CurvX, I’m not nearly as worried about how many times I’ll be dumping out my carefully collected sheddings. Its 22,000 Pa suction power means that the robot pulls everything out of my layers of carpet, trapping dirt and dust without issue while also picking up kitchen staples like cereal and coffee beans from both hard floors and carpets.

Oh, and if you weren’t already familiar with suction power units, 22,000 Pa (Pascals) is a lot. Many robot vacuums stick to a much lower range, somewhere between 2,500 Pa and about 8,000 Pa, which is perfectly reasonable for hard floors and low carpets. So, for the Qrevo CurvX to nearly triple that power means that it’s picking up just about everything you could be putting down.

Roborock’s 22,000 Pa suction power is more than you need, which is exactly what you want.

I’ve backed up those numbers, too. I’m as guilty of the occasional snack on the couch as anyone, and Rupert (what I’m calling my Qrevo CurvX) has pulled crumbs off the floor that I don’t even remember. I’m not proud of myself for leaving them behind, but I’m pretty proud of my vacuum for picking them up, even extending its FlexiArm to sweep through corners that would be otherwise difficult for the round body.

By the way, I’ve only touched on one half of the Qrevo CurvX’s cleaning setup. When it’s not vacuuming its way through my living room and bedroom, I know that Roborock’s 2-in-1 knows how to handle a mop. Its dual rotating pads push down on my kitchen floor with 12N of force and use warm water to break down the dried-on stains that might be left behind. We’re not into the wintery salt season here in Baltimore just yet, but I’ve been pleased with the way the Qrevo CurvX has handled my muddy footprints after a muddy morning of trail running.

The thing about mud, though, is that it’s made of a little bit of everything. Sure, the base is dirt, but there are usually some little rocks, bits of leaves, and other stuff in there, too. The Qrevo CurvX doesn’t seem to care. Its charging dock has a dirt detection function that will automatically send the robot back out for another pass when it detects some debris left behind after mopping.

And, since I’ve finally mentioned Roborock’s futuristic-looking charging dock, which has a white domed top that looks like something right out of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, let’s talk about how the Qrevo CurvX keeps itself clean. Every so often — especially while mopping — the robot will take a quick pass through its charging station, both to flush its water tank and clean the mop heads themselves.

If there’s one part of the entire cleaning process that’s just a little loud, it’s this, but I feel strangely reassured by the increase in volume. I have to chalk it up to the fact that the Multifunctional Dock 3.0 Thermo Plus uses water heated up to 80 degrees Celsius (176 degrees Fahrenheit) to dissolve the stubborn kitchen stains that might find their way onto the mop heads. The dock then cleans itself and dries the Qrevo CurvX’s mop pads before they come anywhere near your carpets — don’t worry, I watched the process like a hawk.

Roborock knows what to clean and what to skip

In my head, everything I’ve highlighted so far is doable by hand — at least with a bit of elbow grease. However, if you want to mop and vacuum that way, you have to be ready to budget a couple of hours, maybe more, depending on the size of your home. With the Qrevo CurvX? I just walk out the door and press the start button while I run errands.

While I’m out, I can easily keep tabs on the robot’s progress through my apartment, watching for it to swap between mopping and vacuuming on a digital map, complete with furniture. I thought I’d be paranoid about it running into (or over) different things left around, like cat toys, stray laundry, and, well, my cats themselves, but the Qrevo CurvX has been just as well-behaved as my kids. Its reactive AI obstacle recognition is trained to pick out more than 100 different everyday household items, and I’m inclined to believe that’s true.

And, since I’m already on the subject of how my cats feel about their new rolling roommate, let’s stick to the topic. Roborock has wisely built in several helpful features to make cleaning a little less stressful for them, including pet recognition. When it recognizes either of my kitties, the Qrevo CurvX will automatically turn off its main brush, adjust its course around my cats, and continue cleaning once it’s clear. Now, my kids are scaredy cats, so they won’t be allowing the robot vacuum to get very close to themselves anytime soon, but I could imagine sleepier dogs loving a cleaner that lets them lie.

My cats are still scared of it, but I’m glad the Qrevo CurvX lets me video chat with them.

If you’re cleaning from afar, you can also check in on your furry friends either using Roborock’s video call and Search for Pet features or Pet Snaps. The former lets you tap into the Qrevo CurvX’s crisp cameras to locate and talk to your pets, wherever they might be throughout your house. Obviously, this won’t work for my frightened felines, but I’m kind of jealous of the owners who can use it. For everyone else, there’s Pet Snaps, which takes the video aspect out of the pet communication. Instead, you can use those same cameras to snap photos and send them to your phone, which is almost as good as live footage.

Even if you don’t have pets, there are plenty of smarts at work in the palm of your hand thanks to the Roborock app. It lets you choose everything from which rooms you clean to how you clean them, and SmartPlan 2.0 lets the Qrevo CurvX learn patterns based on your usage. I’ll usually let it run through my whole home because, again, I don’t have a big place, but I appreciate the flexibility. I’ve had to do a partial cleaning once or twice while I resigned my cats to my bedroom, but SmartPlan 2.0 is clever enough to follow that up with a deeper clean once it’s allowed back into my room.

I’ve seen the light of a robot vacuum, now it’s your turn

If you’d asked me six months ago what my favorite piece of technology I added to my home this year was, I’m not sure what I would have said. I probably would have mentioned one of the many tablets I reviewed, a new pair of earbuds, or an updated smart home controller. Now, though, I think my answer is much easier: the Roborock Qrevo CurvX.

Honestly, this little robot vacuum does everything I could ask of it around my apartment, and it does it well. From high-powered suction to self-cleaning mops, it’s taken so much of the guesswork out of my weekly cleaning — even making me clean more often. Once you figure out where to put the domed charging dock, the cleaning world is pretty much at your fingertips.

As if to make things even better, Roborock is chopping the price on its Qrevo CurvX for Black Friday, too. This robot vacuum, which is usually priced somewhere right around $1,500, is down to just $849 until December 1, 2025. That’s more than a 40% cut, which is a discount that doesn’t come around every day, so if you want to pick one up for yourself, you can do so at the widget below.

Roborock has other deals rolling out for Black Friday, too, including savings on the following:
