In addition to debuting the Raspberry Pi OS Imager 2.0 app, Raspberry Pi today announced the latest version of their operating system.
Following the early October update to Raspberry Pi OS that rebased the OS against Debian 13 “Trixie”, there is another update out today that incorporates various desktop/app improvements and other refinements.
The Raspberry Pi OS 2025-11-24 update improves HiDPI display support with adding a HiDPI scaling option to the “Screens” control panel. There are also now HiDPI icons added to the panel, file manager, and various applications.
The new Raspberry Pi OS release also improves Wayland support with upgrading to the labwc 0.9.4 Wayland compositor and adding icons now to the the Wayland task switcher. The Openbox window appearance has also been changed to match labwc.
Raspberry Pi OS 2025-11-24 also drops PulseAudio now from the OS image in favor of PipeWire being in good shape, support for themeing Qt6 applications, and app updates like Chromium 142 and Firefox 145. Linux 6.12 LTS continues powering Raspberry Pi OS.
