Microsoft and the Health Service of Balearic Islands, IBSalut, will collaborate on technological innovation in the health system of the Balearic Islandswith the aim of strengthening cybersecurity, optimizing processes and exploring the application of AI in the service, always observing the principles of responsibility and data sovereignty.
The collaboration agreement, which aims to explore scenarios and use cases that improve efficiency in patient care, the training of health professionals and the quality of health services in the region; has been signed by Javier Urueña, General Director of the Health Service of the Balearic Islands; y Natalia Escobedo, Executive Director of Public Sector, Education and Health at Microsoft Spain.
In terms of cybersecurity, the collaboration will focus on promoting specific initiatives, covering areas such as regulatory compliance, identity management and secure collaboration in the workplace, with the aim of protecting highly sensitive information and systems in the healthcare sector.
In addition, process optimization and operational efficiency will take center stage within the framework of the agreement, and Microsoft and IBSalut will work to advance both aspects in the implementation of advanced digital solutions, as well as collaborative tools that streamline management, facilitate care and improve the experience of patients and healthcare personnel.
AI and data analytics, as part of the collaboration, are considered by the two entities as the center of the digital healthcare transformation, especially to improve clinical care and management. The agreement, therefore, promotes joint work on the personalized digital care platform for chronic patients. Also pioneering use cases, such as the transcription of doctor-patient consultations, the efficient resolution of duplicate appointments and the implementation of a conversational tool with generative AI to support clinical decision making in accordance with IBSalut protocols.
In addition, a specific working group will be created to explore new applications of generative AI in the healthcare sector. All initiatives will be developed within the framework of Microsoft’s Responsible AI program, which includes the fundamental principles of reliability, security, privacy, inclusion, fairness, transparency and responsibility.
With this collaboration, on the other hand, it is planned to implementation of specialized training initiatives, with plans adapted to the IBSalut environment and in order to promote the digital training of health professionals.
