After a few leaks, the nubia Fold now appears in plain text on the website of the Japanese operator Y!mobile. This first foldable in “book” format from the brand has no inferiority complex compared to the big names in the sector. Inside, an 8-inch (2,480 × 2,200 px) main screen promises a large surface area for multitasking, with support for split-screen mode. On the outside, Nubia installs a second 6.5-inch screen, also clocked at 120 Hz, like the internal panel.

The design remains slim: 5.4 mm thick once open, 11.1 mm closed, for 249 grams on the scale. Enough to compete with competing models, which are often heavier. Under the hood, Nubia surprises: the smartphone indeed adopts the Snapdragon 8 Elite, Qualcomm’s premium chip from last year, which is found in several high-end smartphones such as the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

The Fold has 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, all running Android 15. The IP54 index provides minimal protection against dust and splashes, but we remain far from the IP68 which has become common on very high-end models. On the photo side, Nubia opts for a trio: 50 mpx for the main sensor, 50 mpx for the ultra wide-angle, and a 5 mpx macro sensor. At the front, two 20 MP selfies (one on each screen) complete the package.

One of the other assets of the nubia Fold is undoubtedly its battery. With 6,560 mAh, the manufacturer far exceeds the capacities observed on competing foldables, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and its 4,400 mAh. It remains to be seen whether software optimization will transform this reserve into real, comfortable autonomy. Fast charging goes up to 55W.

Everything is offered in Japan at 178,560 yen, or something like a thousand euros. A much more accessible Price than that of foldable devices from Samsung, Honor or Google, often priced around or even above 1,800 euros at their launch. The nubia Fold will be available from December 4, and should be exported to other markets during 2026.

The aggressive positioning of the Fold could allow it to enter the selection of the best foldable smartphones… if the experience in reality keeps Nubia’s promises. Some limitations remain, notably the unique 12/256 GB configuration and the absence of a more robust IP certification, but Nubia clearly aims to democratize this format without sacrificing performance.
