Control Resonant Expands the Remedyverse With New Setting and New Threats

One of the biggest Game Awards announcements on Thursday was a sequel to 2021’s Control. Developer Remedy Entertainment revealed that players will head back to the paranatural universe in Control Resonant, set to come out next year.

Control Resonant has players step into the role of Dylan Faden, the younger brother of Control protagonist Jesse Faden. Dylan, who was previously imprisoned by the Federal Bureau of Control for his powerful supernatural abilities, must now use those powers to fight a cosmic threat while trying to find his sister.

The trailer shows Dylan waking up from his coma and being guided by a voice from another dimension. He then climbs up from a subway tunnel to fight a city of monsters. What followed was a quick smash cut of different action sequences with Dylan using various melee weapons to take down enemies.

Unlike the previous game, which had players explore the FBC headquarters, Control Resonant has players out in the streets of Manhattan to fight off the supernatural threats that have escaped from the FBC.

Who is Dylan Faden?

Dylan has extraordinary supernatural powers like his sister. He was brought to the FBC headquarters and was added to the program for future director candidates as Prime Candidate 6, or P6. His powers, however, were unpredictable, causing the FBC to contain him.

When Jesse found Dylan during the events of Control, he fell under the influence of the paranatural force called the Hiss, which had invaded the FBC headquarters. Jesse was able to save Dylan, but he was left in a coma.

What is the Remedyverse?

The Remedyverse is a shared universe among Remedy Entertainment games. In 2010, Remedy Entertainment released Alan Wake, its first major game since releasing the first two Max Payne games. In Alan Wake, there were references to Max Payne that seemed more like Easter eggs. It wasn’t until the release of Control that players realized that Remedy had created a genuine shared universe.

Control Resonant will come out in 2026 for PC, PS5, Mac, and Xbox Series X|S consoles.
