Infomaniak has never really played in the league of giants, but the Swiss company has for years been increasing the number of services designed for those who want to stay away from the advertising radar. After email, storage and office automation, it’s time for Euria: an AI assistant which presents itself as the Swiss, and more discreet, counterpart of ChatGPT.
No-fuss AI
The principle is simple: all the data remains in Switzerland, in Infomaniak’s own data centers. No transfer abroad, no sharing with partners, no using conversations to train future models. For those who want to take caution a step further, an ephemeral mode deletes the exchanges as soon as the discussion is over.
On the engine side, Euria relies on Mistral’s open source models (Mistral 8 7B and 22B), which are versatile enough to manage text, PDFs, images, Excel tables and even audio files. The assistant can even analyze a photo or produce a transcription of an audio file without blinking an eye. And when it already knows the answer, it avoids searching the web to save energy, while responding more quickly.
Everything is accessible free of charge on euria.infomaniak.com or via a mobile application. No registration, no friction. And for those who want to integrate the tool into their daily professional life, Euria is already included in the kSuite, Infomaniak’s collaborative offer.
Where Infomaniak really makes an impact is in the area of energy sobriety. The heat released by Euria’s servers is recovered and then injected into Geneva’s district heating network. At full capacity, the system could supply 6,000 Minergie-A homes in winter, while avoiding the emission of some 3,600 tonnes of CO₂ per year. A more concrete promise than many “green” press releases that we come across in tech.
« All the energy of AI benefits the community a second time », welcomes Boris Siegenthaler, founder of Infomaniak. An argument that gives Euria a little “good deed” aspect: asking the assistant a question is almost like turning on the heating in someone’s home!
Infomaniak plans to enrich Euria over the months: intelligent agents, image generation, automation in in-house tools, etc. The company does not hide the fact that it wants to build a credible European alternative, while remaining accessible and reasonable in its consumption. Euria does not promise miracles, but a simple, clean, local experience and slightly more efficient district heating.
