I have tested dozens of MagSafe battery packs over the years, including slim ones, chunky ones, low-capacity chargers, and full-on power bricks that aim to replace everything at once. Most of the battery packs I test are mostly fine; they do the job. But the Kuxiu S3 10,000mAh battery pack strikes a great balance of simplicity, multifunctionality, and, most importantly, reliability. Here is what you should know about their brand-new solid-state battery pack.

Check out the hands-on video below:

Solid-state batteries

Before we begin the review, we need to discuss solid-state batteries. Little by little, we are seeing brands and manufacturers switch to solid-state batteries for a few reasons. They provide:

  • Better efficiency
  • Improved safety
  • Less heat buildup during charging
  • Noticeably lighter compared to older battery tech with the same capacity

I equate this battery transition to that of storage. We transitioned from spinning disk hard drives, which had numerous failure points due to the disk, moving parts, and poor reliability, to SSDs (Solid State Drives). SSD storage is quiet, has zero moving parts, and has been much more reliable over time. The same can be true about solid-state batteries. They are just better in pretty much every way.

Now that we are aware of what solid-state batteries provide, let’s talk about this new MagSafe battery pack.

I am a big fan of tech accessories that provide multiple functions, allowing you to feel like you are getting better value out of a single product. This battery can do a multitude of things. But first, let’s get a look at the specs:

  • 10,000mAh capacity
  • Qi2.2 25W wireless charging (for iPhone 16 or newer)
  • Qi2 15W wireless charging (For iPhone 15 and older)
  • Up to 35W wired via built-in USB-C cable
  • Wired + MagSafe at the same time
  • Real-time LED display with percentage readout (0–100%)
  • Kickstand for viewing

As you can see above, this versatility is particularly beneficial for someone like me, who uses their iPad Pro as their primary computer. Let me explain why that would matter.

My use cases

Firstly, this is a Qi2.2 25W charger. This will charge your iPhone 16 or newer (running iOS 16) at the fastest speeds possible. That is great if you need to charge up your iPhone quickly. It is also a large battery, so it is capable of charging your iPhone 17 Pro Max at least twice without any issues. I like to use this with my iPhone Air when I am on the go or quickly stopping to get some food. I can charge at full speed and also prop it up with the kick stand to view some content while I eat.

However, my second use case involves the built-in braided cable and wired charging. The cable itself is extremely well built and of high quality. But the best part is that it supports 35W charging speeds, so I can charge my iPad almost at full speed with the wired that comes built in. This is amazing to have when you are on the move. I can charge my iPad without any issues using the same battery that I use for my iPhone. If I really want to, I can charge both an iPhone via Magsafe and my iPad while wired in. It technically slows the charge down a bit, but it’s still doable! The cherry on top of it all is that it has a built-in display to let you know what percentage you have left.

Pricing & availability

The Kuxiu S3 is available today on Kuxiu’s site for just under $70. They are also still running holiday promos, so you might be able to get it cheaper as well!

Final thoughts

This battery checks all the boxes I would want from a portable battery pack. I can use it in multiple ways, with any of my products. If I really wanted to, I could even charge my MacBook Air with this battery! If you are looking for a new MagSafe battery pack to take with you on the go, I think the Kuxiu S3 is worth considering.
