On Thursday, Xiaomi unveiled a new logo for its sub-brand Redmi, a company specializing in affordable smartphones and consumer electronics in China. The red design symbolizes a daring spirit and confidence to succeed, while the all-capital letters represent a powerful and strong inner core, the company stated on the Chinese social platform Weibo. “Xiaomi’s growth in the high-end market and its use of advanced technology to enter higher price segments create expansion opportunities for Redmi,” said Lu Weibing, general manager of Xiaomi’s brand. On the same day, Redmi announced that its new K80 series smartphones will launch on Nov. 27, with Olympic table tennis men’s singles champion Fan Zhendong serving as the brand ambassador.
