Coreboot 25.12 is out today as the latest quarterly feature update to this open-source BIOS/firmware solution.
Coreboot 25.12 rolls out proof-of-concept level support for AMD EPYC 9005 “Turin” processors. Great seeing EPYC Turin finally getting Coreboot treatment similar to Genoa. AMD EPYC (and Ryzen) will hopefully see more expansive Coreboot support and greater motherboard availability with their next-gen (Zen 6) wares as openSIL reaches production status.
Coreboot 25.12 brings initial platform enablement for the Qualcomm Snapdragon X1 Plus (X1P42100) as well as enabling support for a number of other motherboards and systems, including:
– ASRock Z77 Extreme4
– ASUS PRIME H610I-PLUS D4
– Google Fatcat: ruby
– Google Ocelot: kodkod, ocicat
– Google Rauru: Sapphire
– Google Skywalker: Dooku, Grogu
– Lenovo ThinkPad (sklkbl_thinkpad): T470s, T580
– Siemens MC EHL: MC EHL6
– Star Labs Starfighter: Arrow Lake (285H)
– Topton ADL: TWL (X2E_N150)
More Google Chromebook devices as usual, the Star Labs Starfighter may interest some for Alder Lake, the ASRock Z77 Extreme4 is for old Intel Core 2nd Gen and 3rd Gen CPUs, and the ASUS PRIME H610I-PLUS D4 is a bit more interesting in being for 13th and 14th Gen Core CPUs.
Coreboot 25.12 also increases the capacity of SMMSTORE, improves support for MIPI cameras on Intel IPU platforms, and various other changes.
