Motorola is making its clearest move yet against Samsung’s foldable collection with the Razr Fold, a book-style foldable phone designed to compete directly with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 rather than sit alongside Motorola’s flip-style Razr 60 Ultra.

The Razr Fold adopts a book-style design built around an 8.1-inch 2K LTPO internal display, paired with a 6.6-inch external screen intended to handle everyday tasks without opening the device.

Motorola says the larger internal panel is designed for productivity, supporting adaptive layouts and fluid multitasking that allow apps to scale more naturally across the display.

Software features are supported by Moto AI tools such as Catch Me Up and Next Move, which surface summaries, suggestions and actions based on how the device is being used.

Stylus input is part of the experience as well, with support for the Moto Pen Ultra, integrating pen support directly into the foldable experience.

The Razr Fold uses a triple 50MP rear camera setup, led by a 50MP Sony Lytia 828 main sensor with a 1/1.28-inch size, the largest 50MP sensor Motorola has used to date, and the largest in any foldable yet.

Its system is rounded out by a 50MP ultra-wide camera with macro support and a 50MP periscope telephoto offering 3x optical zoom and up to 100x total zoom.

Motorola says the camera system has earned a DxOMark gold label in early testing, supported by Pantone colour certification and AI-based image processing for improved dynamic range, colour accuracy and motion capture.

Alongside the foldable, Motorola is also introducing the Signature, the first phone in its new premium Signature Series.

The Signature focuses on materials and long-term support, featuring an ultra-thin aluminium frame, textile-inspired finishes, Gorilla Glass Victus II, IP68/IP69 protection and a commitment to seven years of Android OS updates.

It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, includes a 5200mAh battery with 90W and 50W wireless charging, and uses a 6.8-inch “Extreme AMOLED” display with peak brightness up to 6,200 nits.

The Razr Fold is expected to launch in most markets during 2026, positioning Motorola as a serious alternative for buyers weighing up Samsung’s super-slim Fold 7.

Pricing has not been officially confirmed, but the Razr Fold is expected to launch in the US at around $1,500, according to prolific tipster Evan Blass.
