TL;DR

  • Lenovo showcased two new rollable laptop concepts at CES 2026, one aimed at business users and another designed for high-end esports gaming.
  • The ThinkPad Rollable XD Concept focuses on productivity, featuring a 13.3-inch display that expands to about 16 inches, plus a smaller rear screen for collaboration and more.
  • The Legion Pro Rollable Concept targets gamers, starting at 16 inches and expanding up to 24 inches, with top-tier specs based on the Legion Pro 7i and a dual-motor rollable display system.

Lenovo has been experimenting with rollable display technology for years. We have seen several concept devices during that time, and last year the company launched its first commercial laptop with a rollable screen in the form of the Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6. It now seems clear that Lenovo is just getting started. At CES 2026, the company showed off two new rollable laptop concepts, each aimed at a very different type of user.

Starting with the ThinkPad Rollable XD Concept, Lenovo has designed a unique experience that features both a world-facing display and an expanding, user-focused screen. The company says this design makes the device a strong fit for business users by enabling more advanced multitasking, collaboration, and personalization.

In its default laptop configuration, the device offers a 13.3-inch display that is compact enough for situations where desk space is limited. When more room is needed, the screen can expand to roughly 16 inches. The rear display is notably smaller and is designed primarily for glanceable information rather than full interaction.

As with many of Lenovo’s latest concepts, AI plays a major role. Features include live translation, voice assistance, and AI-powered interactions that even work with the lid closed. Users can also expect Swipe to X touch gestures, voice controls, and additional quality-of-life features designed to make the experience more intuitive.

Of course, Lenovo did not stop with business users. The Legion Pro Rollable Concept targets professional esports gamers, offering a device with a 16-inch PureSight OLED gaming display by default that can expand to an enormous 24 inches in Arena mode. There is also a Tactical mode that expands the screen to a more modest 21.5 inches, giving users flexibility depending on available space and personal preference.

While Lenovo did not share performance specifics for the ThinkPad concept, the Legion device is based on the Legion Pro 7i. That means top-tier Intel Core Ultra processors and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 are on board.

As for how the display expands, Lenovo uses a dual-motor system designed to minimize vibration and noise during operation. Long-term durability remains an open question, but there is no denying that the result is an impressive-looking machine.

For now, both of these devices are just concepts, but Lenovo tends to build on these ideas, and so we could see one or both concepts return as a commercial effort down the road.
